LC I Chairperson Nominations Officially Underway Across Uganda
Eligible aspirants are required to present themselves for nomination at their respective Sub-county, Town Council, or Municipal Division Headquarters between 15 and 19 July 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
The Electoral Commission has commenced the nomination exercise for candidates seeking to contest for Village Council (LC I) Chairperson positions across the country.
Eligible aspirants are required to present themselves for nomination at their respective Sub-county, Town Council, or Municipal Division Headquarters between 15 and 19 July 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
The exercise forms part of the roadmap for the Local Council elections and provides an opportunity for eligible citizens to formally express their interest in serving their communities at the grassroots level.
The Electoral Commission has encouraged all prospective candidates to ensure they meet the required qualifications and submit the necessary documentation within the stipulated period to avoid missing out on the nomination process. The Commission has also called upon stakeholders and the public to support a peaceful, transparent, and orderly electoral process.
The elections for Village Council (LC I) Chairpersons are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening local governance and enhancing community participation in decision-making at the village level.
