Nakifuma, Mukono District –

As the clock ticks toward the July 17th National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, Ntwatwa John Jackson has officially declared his bid to become the NRM flagbearer for Nakifuma County Constituency, with a strong promise to bring back the seat to the ruling party in the 2026 general elections.

Nakifuma County, located in the heart of Mukono District, has long been considered a stronghold of the NRM party. However, the party suffered a surprise defeat in the 2021 general elections when a candidate from the National Unity Platform (NUP) emerged victorious. With a mission to reverse that trend, Ntwatwa is stepping into the political arena with a grassroots-focused agenda.

Commitments to Service: Education and Basic Needs

“We have always been told that education is the key to success, but many children in Nakifuma have not been able to afford that necessity,” Ntwatwa remarked during a community meeting. “This is why I set out to offer bursaries to those that needed a hand.”

For years, Ntwatwa has quietly supported underprivileged students through scholarship programs, bridging the gap between potential and opportunity. His efforts have earned him respect from both parents and local leaders, who see him as a man of action rather than words.

Beyond education, he has pledged to advocate for critical infrastructure improvements.

“I promised my people what I will lobby this term — roads, electricity, water, and health facilities,” he asserted, adding that his development agenda is rooted in addressing the everyday challenges of his constituents.

Political Strategy: Reclaiming Nakifuma for NRM

With the NRM gearing up for its internal party primaries on July 17, 2025, Ntwatwa is positioning himself as the best candidate to lead a successful charge in 2026. He has launched a vigorous mobilization campaign, rallying party supporters and opinion leaders across the constituency.

“Nakifuma has always been a bastion of the NRM,” he said. “I appeal to all party members to give me the flag so we can restore the pride and representation of our people at the national level.”

According to him, the NRM has a proud legacy in the area, and it’s time to realign the constituency with the ruling party’s broader development agenda. His message has resonated strongly with the youth, women’s groups, and elders who are frustrated with the opposition’s performance since 2021.

In his interactions with voters, Ntwatwa has gone beyond campaign promises to educate the electorate about the core responsibilities of a Member of Parliament.

He highlights four key roles:

Legislation – “MPs debate and pass laws that guide the development of the country,” he explains.

Representation – “We are your voice in Parliament. I will ensure your views, challenges, and aspirations are heard.”

Budget Approval – “MPs analyse and pass the national budget and ensure that your money is spent where it matters most.”

Oversight – “We monitor government programs and fight corruption by holding public officials accountable.”

By highlighting these roles, Ntwatwa is not only seeking votes but also raising civic awareness among voters about what they should expect from their elected leaders.

After the NRM nomination process and as tensions build toward the July 17 primaries, Ntwatwa remains confident that his track record, community presence, and clear vision will resonate with voters.

“I am not a stranger to the needs of Nakifuma. I am your son, your brother, your servant,” he said passionately. “With your support, we shall bring back this constituency to the NRM and champion development that transforms lives.”

His candidacy marks a defining moment for Nakifuma as it prepares to choose between maintaining the status quo or re-aligning with a seasoned grassroots leader under the NRM banner.
