President Museveni Roots for Agro-Industrial Growth and Job Creation in Budaka District

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged the people of Budaka District to take full advantage of government programs and embrace Uganda’s industrialization and wealth creation agenda.

Addressing a massive rally during his campaign tour of the Bukedi sub-region, the President expressed gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him by the residents of Budaka, emphasizing that the district has immense potential to become a key hub for agro-industrial growth.

“I thank the people of Budaka for the warm welcome. We are backing the industrialization plan for Budaka to create more jobs, alongside commercial agriculture, manufacturing, and the service sector. These are the pillars that have already created millions of jobs across the country,” President Museveni said.

The President explained that Uganda’s transformation depends on citizens joining the money economy through productive activities, citing successful farmers who have turned small farms into profitable enterprises.

“I gave examples of successful farmers like Joseph Ijala in Serere and Minister Fred Byamukama in Kakumiro, who have turned small farms into job centres. I encouraged the people of Budaka to join the money economy and use government programs to create wealth,” he added.

President Museveni underscored that the Bukedi region, including Budaka, is richly endowed with resources that can support sustainable economic growth if well harnessed. He highlighted sectors such as fish farming, coffee cultivation, fruit growing, and dairy production as key drivers of local industrialization and rural income generation.

“Budaka and the Bukedi region have great potential for fish farming, coffee, fruit growing, and dairy. Let us defend these programs — the Parish Development Model (PDM), Youth Fund, Women Fund, and free education — because they are the engines of wealth creation and transformation,” the President emphasized.

He urged residents to focus on enterprise selection and effective utilization of the funds provided under the different government initiatives. The Parish Development Model (PDM), he said, is designed to ensure that every household in Uganda participates in commercial production, enabling families to move from subsistence to income-generating activities.

President Museveni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue supporting initiatives that stimulate industrialization, value addition, and job creation, especially in rural areas like Budaka. He noted that the industrialization drive is already bearing fruit across the country, with factories and agro-processing plants offering employment opportunities and expanding Uganda’s export base.

The President’s campaign message in Budaka focused on continuity, production, and wealth distribution, urging citizens to safeguard the gains achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. He reminded the people that development is a shared responsibility and encouraged them to work hard, stay united, and support ongoing government programs aimed at transforming their livelihoods.

As he concluded his address, President Museveni reiterated that the NRM government’s vision for the next term is centered on inclusive growth, industrial empowerment, and ensuring that every Ugandan household becomes a participant in the national economy.
