Uganda Police Vows to Squeeze Reckless Drivers in the Festive Season - Do not Call a Person of Influence to Save You.

Kampala -The Uganda Police force has issued several warning alerts for Ugandans as they proceed through out the Festive Season, urging road drivers to take all precaution measures to save themselves from Confronting with their officers on road.

Through the Public Relations Officer of the Uganda Police Force, ACP, Rusoke kituuma , Tuesday , he implored the drivers to prepare early enough especially to those with longer journeys to avoid incidents of over speeding. The issue of driving while drunk will be dealt with according to the law. 

He, has however, warned all those expecting and hoping to call people of influence like government officials, RDC's , police bosses and others to save them after breaking the traffic laws, that they shall not be pardoned and a suspect must be detained upto atleast 48 hours in police custody.

The issue of driving without permits is highly condemned, said Rusoke. Those without permits must endeavor to get them earlier to avoid time wastage on roads as they proceed to their destinies.

He also emphasized the importance of checking for drivers with expired licenses and those without valid licenses, highlighting the dangers they pose on the road. The issue of motorcycle riders not wearing helmets, if they fail to comply, they will result in enforcement actions.

There is a call for all motorcycle and vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, with a promise to share more details through traffic updates. There is also an ongoing operation targeting bus drivers without badges as a commitment to ensuring all traffic requirements are met, he added.
