Acholi NRM Mobilisation Teams Rally Amuru Voters Ahead of Village Barazas

Amuru District — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has intensified grassroots mobilisation activities across the Acholi Sub-region as the party puts final preparations in place for the second nationwide round of Village Barazas scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

A section of NRM Sub-regional Coordinators for Acholi is currently in Amuru District, where they are overseeing mobilisation and coordination meetings in Lamogi Sub-county ahead of the countrywide Village Barazas.

The mobilisation drive is part of the party's broader strategy to strengthen its grassroots structures and rally support for NRM flag bearers contesting for Village Women Council and Local Council I (LC I) positions.

The Village Barazas are expected to bring together party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, supporters and local residents to engage communities on the importance of participating in the upcoming village-level elections.

The second round of the Village Barazas comes at a critical stage of the electoral process, with the NRM seeking to consolidate its support at the grassroots ahead of the elections for Village Women Councils and LC I Chairpersons.

According to the NRM mobilisation programme, elections for Village Women Councils are scheduled for July 23, 2026, while voting for LC I Chairpersons will take place on July 28, 2026.

In Amuru, the mobilisation teams are using the final hours before the Barazas to coordinate local party structures and ensure that grassroots leaders are prepared to engage voters in their respective communities.

The activities in Lamogi Sub-county are also intended to strengthen coordination among NRM leaders at the village and sub-county levels, while encouraging supporters to remain united behind the party's flag bearers.

The Village Barazas form part of the NRM's wider grassroots mobilisation strategy, which places emphasis on direct engagement with communities and strengthening the party's presence at the village level.

The party has urged its supporters and leaders to actively participate in the Barazas and use the gatherings to communicate the NRM's message, mobilise voters and encourage peaceful participation in the forthcoming local council elections.

The mobilisation activities in Acholi come as similar preparations are being undertaken in different parts of the country, with NRM officials and coordinators deployed to various sub-regions to oversee grassroots engagements.

With the Village Women Council elections taking place on July 23 and the LC I Chairperson elections following on July 28, the NRM's renewed mobilisation push is expected to place significant focus on ensuring that party structures remain active and coordinated across the country's villages.
