Enoch Barigye Wins Museveni’s Praise at Entebbe State House as Anita Among, Others Advance in NRM CEC Vetting

Aspiring Central Executive Committee (CEC) member for Western Uganda, Enoch Barigye Byaruhanga, has successfully sailed through the second phase of the vetting process after being approved by the NRM Central Executive Committee, a scrutiny committee.

In line with the NRM Constitution, all aspiring CEC candidates must appear before the party’s top organ for vetting, where each contender is allocated two to three minutes to introduce themselves and highlight their key policy priorities.

The process also includes direct questioning by the Party Chairman and committee members to assess a candidate’s suitability for leadership.

During his submission, Mr. Barigye’s speech drew positive remarks from the NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was reportedly impressed by his clarity of vision and emphasis on grassroots empowerment.

His message has also resonated strongly with voters in the Western region, where he is steadily building a solid support base ahead of the Delegates’ Conference.

Mr. Barigye’s approval paves the way for him and other cleared candidates to proceed to the next level before the National Executive Council (NEC). The NEC will subject aspirants to a similar vetting exercise before the final list of approved candidates is presented to the NRM Delegates’ Conference scheduled for the 27th of this month.

The vetting process has already trimmed down the contest: at least three aspirants were disqualified, while others, including President Museveni’s brother Nzeire Kaguta, bowed out due to family pressure.

Two additional contenders voluntarily withdrew, leaving eight candidates in the race among them Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.

With the NEC stage now set, anticipation is building ahead of the Delegates’ Conference, which will decide the final composition of the ruling party’s powerful Central Executive Committee.
