Future Leaders Rise as Cavendish Graduates Class of 2025

Cavendish University Uganda conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates to more than 985 students during its 14th graduation ceremony held at Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo.

The event, themed “Empowering Futures: Cultivating Leaders for a Global Tomorrow,” was graced by high profile dignitaries, partners, sponsors, and proud parents. Presiding over the ceremony was the University Chancellor, H.E. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, former President of Nigeria.

In his keynote address, Guest of Honour Mr. Bernard Paul Mono, Acting Director General of the East African Development Bank (EADB), challenged graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from Cavendish to address pressing societal issues.

“Stay informed, remain resilient, and give value to the community. The best days are ahead of you. You have all it takes to bring transformation,” he advised.

Chancellor H.E. Jonathan congratulated the Class of 2025, emphasizing that education remains the compass to a brighter future.

“As Chancellor, I am deeply proud of what this university represents, a centre of excellence, innovation, and transformation. Your resilience is your first qualification as leaders. Go forth and shape the future with integrity, purpose, and compassion,” he urged.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Olive Sabiiti encouraged graduates to unlock their full potential in entrepreneurship and ethical leadership, stressing the importance of anchoring growth on knowledge, competence, resources, relationships, and reputation.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding achievers across various disciplines. From the Science and Technology department, Duku Robert Kenyi received the Tanya Innovation Africa Award, with a cash prize of UGX 1,000,000.

Nakaweesi Shakira Mercy earned the Prof. John Mugisha & Family Award for Best Health Sciences Student, walking away with UGX 500,000 and a plaque.

In the Faculty of Law, Falu Sey was named Best Law Student, receiving UGX 1,000,000 and a set of red law volumes courtesy of Anguria & Co. Advocates. Mirriam Gladys Lawoko was recognized as Best Female Law Student under the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga Award, which came with UGX 2,000,000.

The celebratory event reinforced Cavendish University’s mission to produce competent, ethical, and globally-minded leaders ready to transform communities and drive innovation.
