MUSEVENI PRAISES YUMBE’S DEVELOPMENT, UNVEILS INDUSTRIAL PARK AND MODEL FARM PLAN DURING CAMPAIGN TOUR
Highlighting the tangible impact of government initiatives, President Museveni revealed that the Parish Development Model (PDM) has already delivered nearly UGX 60 billion to households in Yumbe District, helping families shift from subsistence farming to commercial production.

Yumbe – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended the people of Yumbe for embracing government programs under the National Resistance Movement (NRM), noting that the district is a model of transformation in Northern Uganda. The President made these remarks while addressing thousands of supporters during his campaign visit to Yumbe, as part of his countrywide mobilization tour ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Highlighting the tangible impact of government initiatives, President Museveni revealed that the Parish Development Model (PDM) has already delivered nearly UGX 60 billion to households in Yumbe District, helping families shift from subsistence farming to commercial production.
“The PDM program has already delivered nearly 60 billion shillings in Yumbe to households, helping families enter the money economy. In the next phase, we will enhance fund delivery for faster disbursement and better supervision,” President Museveni said.
He noted that the next phase of PDM implementation will focus on improving fund delivery systems, accelerating disbursement, and ensuring effective supervision to prevent misuse and guarantee maximum impact for local communities.
Model Farm and Industrial Park to Boost Wealth Creation
The President expressed his gratitude to the people of Yumbe for providing land for a model farm, which will serve as a demonstration center for modern agricultural practices. The farm will produce seedlings for cocoa, coffee, and fruits, helping farmers diversify crops, increase productivity, and build sustainable wealth.
“I appreciate the generosity of the people of Yumbe in providing land for a model farm that will demonstrate modern techniques and produce seedlings for cocoa, coffee, and fruits. This initiative aims to eliminate poverty and foster wealth in our communities,” Museveni said.
He also announced government plans to establish an Industrial Park in Yumbe, aimed at generating employment opportunities for youth and promoting value addition to agricultural products. The park will play a vital role in expanding local industry and supporting the region’s economic growth.
“Additionally, we plan to establish an Industrial Park to generate jobs and promote local industry,” the President added.
Education and Skills Development at the Core of NRM’s Agenda
President Museveni reaffirmed his government’s commitment to free and quality education for all Ugandans, citing the continued strengthening of the Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs. He emphasized that these initiatives are the foundation of human capital development and a key pillar of Uganda’s long-term economic transformation.
To complement formal education, the President highlighted the success of Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs, which equip young people with hands-on skills in trades such as tailoring, welding, carpentry, and mechanics.
“Our goal is to ensure free and quality education for all, strengthened by UPE and USE, complemented by the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs for practical skills development,” he said.
Health and Water Improvements in Yumbe
On the health front, President Museveni announced that Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital is currently expanding with new wards, which will enhance healthcare access and reduce congestion. He added that the government remains committed to ensuring all Ugandans access quality and affordable healthcare services.
He further noted that safe water coverage in Yumbe stands at 77%, with additional systems under construction to achieve universal access. These improvements, he said, are a result of sustained investment in rural water infrastructure under the NRM government.
NRM’s Vision of Unity and Development
President Museveni praised the people of Yumbe for their continued support of the NRM and underscored that the district’s achievements are a testament to the party’s unwavering commitment to ending poverty and inequality across Uganda.
“Yumbe’s progress is a tangible result of NRM’s efforts against poverty and inequality. True Uzalendo involves unity and cooperation for the benefit of all Ugandans,” Museveni emphasized.
He encouraged citizens to remain united and focused on the shared goal of national prosperity, saying Uganda’s transformation depends on collective effort, discipline, and continued faith in NRM’s leadership.
The President’s message in Yumbe echoed his broader campaign theme — “Securing the Future Through Wealth Creation and Unity” — as he continues to traverse the country reinforcing the government’s development agenda and rallying support ahead of the 2026 polls.
