NRM Calls on Ugandans to Turn Up in Large Numbers for LC1 Elections

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has called on Ugandans across the country to turn up in large numbers and participate in the Local Council I Chairperson elections scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

In a message addressed to all Ugandans, the ruling party described the upcoming elections as another important milestone in the country's electoral journey and urged voters to exercise their democratic right by voting for NRM flag bearers.

The party said the elections provide an opportunity for citizens to choose leaders who will represent them at the grassroots level and contribute to the effective implementation of government programmes within their communities.

"We've walked this electoral journey together, and tomorrow marks another, important milestone. Let's turn out in large numbers and vote only for NRM flag bearers in the LC I Chairperson elections," the message stated.

The NRM further called on its supporters and members to remain united and focused as the country concludes the electoral cycle, expressing confidence that a strong turnout in support of its candidates would deliver what it described as a resounding victory.

The appeal comes as campaigns for the LC1 Chairperson positions conclude ahead of polling day. The Electoral Commission has also urged candidates, their supporters, agents and other stakeholders to maintain peace, respect electoral guidelines and ensure that the final phase of the elections is conducted in a calm and orderly manner.

The LC1 elections are considered significant because Local Council leaders serve as the closest elected representatives to citizens and play a key role in community mobilisation, local governance and linking residents with government programmes.

The NRM message is therefore intended to mobilise its supporters across villages and communities to participate actively in the elections and back the party's officially endorsed candidates.

The party concluded its appeal with a call for unity and collective action, urging Ugandans to participate in the elections and help the NRM achieve victory at the grassroots level.
