NRM Intensifies Nationwide Mobilisation as Rt. Hon. Todwong Meets Acholi Party Leaders in Gulu

GULU CITY – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has intensified its nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign, with the party's Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, leading a high-level engagement with party leaders from the Acholi sub-region in preparation for the forthcoming Local Council (LC I) and Women Council elections.

The meeting, held at Acholi Inn in Gulu City, brought together NRM Members of Parliament, district party chairpersons, flag bearers, registrars, administrators and other key party leaders from across the Acholi sub-region to harmonise mobilisation strategies and strengthen the party's grassroots structures ahead of the elections.

Addressing the gathering, Rt. Hon. Todwong underscored the strategic importance of the village-level elections, describing them as the foundation upon which Uganda's leadership and the NRM's political strength are built.

He urged all party leaders to take the upcoming polls seriously and intensify mobilisation efforts across every village to ensure massive participation by party members and victory for NRM candidates.

"The foundation of leadership in this country starts with the LC I chairperson. These elections are, therefore, critical to strengthening our party structures and consolidating the gains of the NRM at the grassroots," Todwong said.

He noted that effective mobilisation at the village level would not only guarantee success in the Local Council elections but also reinforce the party's organisational capacity ahead of future electoral processes.

Todwong further challenged leaders to remain united, disciplined and committed to the party's ideals while engaging communities on the importance of participating in the democratic process.

The Acholi engagement forms part of a nationwide mobilisation campaign being spearheaded by the NRM Secretariat to prepare the party for the grassroots elections. The initiative aims to popularise the electoral roadmap, strengthen party structures and ensure coordinated mobilisation in every region of the country.

The mobilisation exercise follows the official flagging off of regional mobilisation teams by Rt. Hon. Todwong last Friday. The teams were dispatched to all regions of Uganda to engage party leaders and members, provide guidance on the electoral roadmap and rally support for NRM candidates contesting in the Local Council and Women Council elections.

The regional meetings have brought together Members of Parliament, district and sub-regional coordinators, party chairpersons, registrars, administrators and other stakeholders to align mobilisation strategies and address challenges affecting grassroots organisation.

The NRM Secretariat believes the grassroots elections are pivotal in strengthening the party's structures from the village level upwards, ensuring that local leaders remain closely connected to the communities they serve.

The Women Council elections are scheduled to take place on July 23, followed by the LC I Chairperson elections on July 28, marking a significant milestone in the party's ongoing efforts to consolidate its grassroots support and enhance participatory leadership across the country.

As the nationwide mobilisation drive continues, the NRM leadership has called upon all party members to actively participate in the electoral process, support the party's flag bearers and uphold the principles of unity, transparency and democratic participation throughout the elections.
