President Museveni Hails 40 Years of Peace and Development at Bunyangabu Campaign Rally

Bunyangabu District | 4 December 2025

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday evening held his second campaign rally in Bunyangabu District, where he delivered a message centered on peace, stability, and the steady progress Uganda has registered under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. The rally followed his earlier engagement in Kasese District as he continued his Rwenzori Sub-region campaign trail ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Addressing thousands of enthusiastic residents who gathered with local NRM leaders, President Museveni expressed gratitude for the peace Uganda has sustained for four decades—an achievement he described as one of the greatest dividends of the NRM’s liberation struggle.

“I thank God that a child can be born, grow, study, marry and raise a family in a peaceful country,” he said. “This stability has enabled Uganda to transform and move forward.”

Peace as the Foundation of Growth

The President emphasized that Uganda’s progress is deeply rooted in the environment of peace that has prevailed since the NRM took power in 1986. He noted that communities across the country have been able to pursue education, business, farming, and family life without the fear and disruption that characterized the past.

According to President Museveni, this uninterrupted peace is what has allowed the government to focus on essential development projects and long-term planning—factors now positioning Uganda for even greater growth.

Visible Development Across the Country

Highlighting the achievements of the NRM, the President pointed to the widespread development in infrastructure and social services that has taken shape over the years.

“We see development everywhere: roads, electricity, water, telephones, railway and internet,” he noted, adding that these investments have significantly improved livelihoods and boosted economic activity.

He acknowledged delays in the completion of the Mityana–Mubende–Fort Portal road, attributing them to fragmented resource allocation in earlier years. However, he assured residents that the younger generation of NRM leaders has embraced strategic prioritisation, ensuring that such key infrastructure projects are completed without further setbacks.

In a highlight that resonated strongly with the youth and parents in attendance, President Museveni celebrated the expansion of education in Uganda, describing it as a marker of the country's transformation.

He revealed that Bunyangabu District alone now has eight government secondary schools—an extraordinary improvement compared to the situation in 1961 when Uganda had only six A’level schools nationally.

“This shows how far we have come,” Museveni said, reinforcing the NRM’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and enhancing the quality of learning across all regions.

As he concluded his address, President Museveni urged the people of Bunyangabu to continue supporting the NRM in order to consolidate the gains made and drive Uganda into a new era of modernisation, industrialisation, and prosperity.

He reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to completing ongoing infrastructure projects, strengthening social services, and championing policies that uplift households and empower the youth.

The rally in Bunyangabu marked another energetic stop in President Museveni’s Rwenzori campaign programme, as the NRM seeks a renewed mandate to lead the country through its next phase of development.
