SurePay Uganda Partners with Uganda Table Tennis Association, Donates UGX 5 Million for 2025 Uganda Open

The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) has announced a new partnership with SurePay Limited Uganda, marking a significant boost to preparations for the much-anticipated 2025 Uganda Open Table Tennis Championship.

The partnership was confirmed during a meeting held earlier today between UTTA President Mr. Muwanga Mark Cyrus and Mr. Godfrey Lugoloobi, the Managing Director of SurePay Limited Uganda. At the meeting, Mr. Lugoloobi pledged a financial contribution of UGX 5 million towards the successful organisation of the 2025 Uganda Open.

According to UTTA, the contribution will support key logistical and organisational needs, including venue preparation, athlete welfare, competition equipment, and overall event promotion. The Uganda Open, one of the country’s flagship table tennis competitions, attracts top players from across Uganda and the region, fostering talent development and strengthening the sport’s profile nationally.

Mr. Muwanga expressed heartfelt gratitude to SurePay, noting that such partnerships are essential in driving the sport forward. He emphasized that corporate support enables the association to host high-quality tournaments and broaden opportunities for young players.

“We are grateful to SurePay Limited Uganda for believing in the potential of table tennis and investing in its growth,” Mr. Muwanga stated. “This support strengthens our ability to deliver a competitive and exciting 2025 Uganda Open, and we look forward to deepening this partnership.”

On his part, Mr. Lugoloobi reaffirmed SurePay’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower communities, including youth-centered sports disciplines. He noted that table tennis, being a fast-growing sport in Uganda, deserves strategic investment to nurture emerging talent.

“We are proud to partner with UTTA as they prepare for the 2025 Uganda Open. Supporting sports development is part of our corporate responsibility, and we are excited to play a role in uplifting young athletes,” he said.

UTTA believes this collaboration reflects a positive trend of companies embracing sports as a platform for community engagement, youth development, and national pride. The association continues to call on more private sector actors to join hands in advancing sports infrastructure and opportunities for Ugandan athletes.

As preparations intensify, the 2025 Uganda Open is expected to be one of the most competitive editions yet, with heightened interest from clubs, schools, and regional players.
