Luzira Senior Secondary School today joined the global community in commemorating International Women's Day with a vibrant and inspiring assembly that celebrated the strength, resilience, and achievements of women.
The event, held at the school premises in Luzira, brought together students, teachers, and members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in a united show of appreciation for the invaluable role women play in shaping families, institutions, and society at large.
The assembly was led by the school’s female teachers, who took center stage to share powerful and heartfelt messages with the learners. Drawing from personal experiences and professional journeys, they encouraged students—especially the girls—to believe in their potential, remain focused on their academic goals, and rise above societal limitations.
Speaking during the assembly, the Chairperson of the PTA, Mrs. Rebecca Kiwanuka Kyambadde, applauded the female staff for their dedication and commitment to mentoring the next generation. She emphasized the importance of education as a tool for empowerment and urged students to take advantage of the guidance and support available to them within the school community.
“Our girls must understand that they are capable of achieving greatness. With discipline, confidence, and hard work, there is no limit to what they can accomplish,” she noted, while also encouraging boys to respect, support, and work alongside their female counterparts in building a more equitable society.
The messages shared throughout the assembly echoed the broader theme of International Women’s Day—promoting equality, inclusion, and the recognition of women’s contributions across all sectors. Students listened attentively as speakers highlighted the importance of self-belief, leadership, resilience, and mutual respect.
The celebration also served as a moment of reflection, reminding the school community of the progress made in advancing girls’ education and women’s leadership, while acknowledging the need for continued effort in addressing existing challenges.
School administrators expressed gratitude to all the women within the institution for their tireless service, describing them as pillars of guidance, compassion, and academic excellence. The learners, in turn, applauded the female teachers for their mentorship and daily commitment to nurturing talent and character.
As the assembly concluded, a strong message resonated across the school grounds: empowering women and girls is not just a one-day event, but a continuous responsibility shared by the entire community.
Luzira Senior Secondary School’s celebration stood as a testament to its commitment to fostering an environment where every learner—regardless of gender—is encouraged to dream boldly and strive for excellence.
