The NRM National Treasurer, Barbara Nekesa Oundo, on Friday 6th March 2026 hosted a Ramadan Iftar dinner at her home in Busia District, bringing together family members, political leaders, business leaders and members of the wider community in a show of unity, faith and service.

The evening gathering, held during the holy month of Ramadan, provided an opportunity for Muslim faithful and invited guests to break the fast together in an atmosphere marked by reflection, gratitude and solidarity. The event attracted a cross-section of leaders and residents from across the district, underscoring the strong bond between the NRM National Treasurer and the people she serves.

In her brief remarks, Hon. Nekesa emphasized the importance of compassion, generosity and togetherness during Ramadan, noting that the fasting period is not only a time of spiritual renewal but also a call to extend kindness to those in need. She encouraged believers to continue praying for peace, unity and development in Busia District and the country at large.

“This holy month reminds us of the values of sacrifice, humility and caring for one another. As leaders, we must always remain close to our communities and support them in every way possible,” she noted.

Several political and community leaders who attended the dinner commended Hon. Nekesa for consistently giving back to the people. They described her as a leader who remains accessible and responsive, not only during festive seasons but throughout the year.

Business leaders present at the function also lauded her for fostering an environment of cooperation and inclusion, saying that her engagement with different segments of society strengthens community cohesion and local development.

Members of the Muslim community expressed gratitude for the gesture, highlighting that hosting an Iftar dinner goes beyond sharing a meal—it symbolizes unity, respect and shared responsibility. They offered prayers for her continued leadership and success in her national role.

The Iftar dinner concluded with special prayers (Du’a) for the nation, leaders and families, reinforcing the message of harmony and collective progress.

Hon. Nekesa’s gesture once again reflected her longstanding commitment to philanthropy and community empowerment, values that many attendees said continue to define her leadership both in Busia District and on the national stage.
