Former Bungokho Central MP aspirant donates 10 bags of cement and Shs100,000 to support ongoing church construction

Former Bungokho Central parliamentary aspirant Hon. Wamono George has fulfilled his pledge to support the construction of Bungwanyi Church of Uganda in Bwikhonje Parish, Busano Sub-County, delivering 10 bags of cement and Shs100,000 in cash to facilitate the ongoing building works.

Wamono delivered the construction materials and cash contribution on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in a gesture aimed at supporting the development of the church, which is currently at the walling stage.

The donation is expected to contribute to the progress of the construction project as the congregation works towards establishing a modern church building to serve Christians in the area.

The items were received by church leaders at the construction site, led by Mr. Murashi Isaac, the Head of Laity, and Mr. Sam Paul Wakalawu, alongside other Christians who were present during the handover.

The Shs100,000 cash contribution was provided to cater for labour costs, while the 10 bags of cement will be used in the continuing construction works.

Church leaders commended Wamono for honouring his commitment, describing the contribution as a welcome boost to the congregation's efforts to complete the church building.

They noted that the cement would help advance the construction work, which has reached the walling stage, as the church continues mobilising resources to realise its development plans.

According to the architectural design seen by this publication in 2023, Bungwanyi Church of Uganda is planned as a modern structure that is expected to provide an improved place of worship for Christians once completed.

The project forms part of the congregation's efforts to establish a permanent and suitable worship facility for its members in Bwikhonje Parish and the surrounding communities.

Wamono's contribution also highlights the role of community support in advancing local religious infrastructure, particularly where congregations depend on contributions from well-wishers and members of the community to finance construction projects.

Despite the conclusion of the electoral process, Wamono continues to attract appreciation in Bungokho Central for his reported support towards churches and community development initiatives.

His latest contribution to Bungwanyi Church of Uganda underscores his continued engagement with local communities beyond electoral contests, with the church construction project providing another avenue for community participation and support.

As construction progresses, the congregation will continue to require resources to complete the planned building and bring the project to its intended standard.

Wamono's fulfilment of the pledge is therefore expected to provide both material and financial support to the ongoing works, while reinforcing the importance of keeping commitments made to community institutions.

The church leadership and Christians present at the site welcomed the contribution as part of the collective effort to move the project closer to completion.
