Mbale District

Hon. Miriam Mukhaye has launched a determined and well-supported bid for a second term as the Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament, this time contesting as the official flag bearer of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Her transition from an independent candidate to the ruling party’s choice has energized her supporters, many of whom credit her with an impressive record of delivery during her first term.

Strong Footprint in the Health Sector

Health remains one of the areas where Hon. Mukhaye’s performance is most visible. She spearheaded the securing of land for upgrading several health facilities across the district, including Busiu, Bumasikye, Makhonge, Muruba, Budwale, Wanale, and Bumadanda. These efforts have set the stage for improved service delivery in some of the most underserved rural communities.

She successfully lobbied the government for the construction of a maternity ward at Siira Health Centre III and provided vital support to numerous facilities by supplying beds, mattresses, and essential medical materials. Her collaboration with Rotary International resulted in the construction of a new maternity ward at Bunampongo Health Centre, a project that was welcomed as a major milestone for mothers and infants in the region.

To further strengthen emergency healthcare, Hon. Mukhaye recently launched a modern ambulance to improve response to medical emergencies—an intervention praised by health workers and community leaders.

Transformative Investment in Education

Hon. Mukhaye has also made significant contributions to the education sector. She played a key role in advocating for the construction of Makhai Seed Secondary School and supported Bumbobi Seed School with essential building materials, including iron sheets.

Her intervention was crucial in the rehabilitation of schools affected by natural disasters—such as Nabumali Boarding Primary School, Bukhumwa, Manyenya, and Bunanimi Primary Schools—helping them resume operations and ensuring learners returned to safe environments.

A notable highlight is her partnership with Innovation Africa, which enabled the full renovation of Kilayi Primary School. The project provided new desks, installed solar power, and established a community water system, transforming the school into a model learning centre.

Beyond infrastructure, she has been actively involved in learner welfare and academic motivation. She organized meals for all Primary Seven candidates during the PLE examinations, distributed success cards, and rewarded top-performing girls with mattresses and basic supplies—initiatives aimed at boosting both morale and performance among students.

Building on a Strong Foundation

As she seeks a second term, Hon. Mukhaye says her ambitions are anchored in the desire to consolidate ongoing work and complete projects already in progress. Her message to voters highlights continuity, stability, and expanded service delivery across Mbale District.

Her endorsement by the NRM has been warmly received by her supporters, who see her as a practical, hands-on leader with a keen understanding of the district’s needs. Political observers note that her clear track record, especially in health and education, positions her as a frontrunner in the race for the 2026 elections.

Community Support on the Rise

Across Mbale District, Hon. Mukhaye’s re-election bid is drawing significant attention. Many residents point to the visible changes she has championed and view her as a leader who prioritizes action over rhetoric. As the campaign season gains momentum, her solid achievements and grassroots network make her one of the most formidable contenders for the Woman MP seat.
