Luzira Secondary School Girls Crowned 2025 National Woodball Champions
Luzira SS celebrates a historic triumph at the USSSA National Woodball Finals

In an inspiring showcase of sporting excellence and determination, Luzira Secondary School’s Girls’ Woodball Team has been crowned the 2025 USSSA National Woodball Champions after a dominant 3–0 victory against Iganga Secondary School in the finals held on 17th July 2025.
The electrifying win not only marks a major milestone in the school's sporting journey but also cements Luzira SS’s position as a powerhouse in Uganda's secondary school sports scene. The girls displayed remarkable discipline, coordination, and strategy throughout the tournament, culminating in a resounding performance in the finals that left their opponents with no room to recover.
Luzira SS Girls’ journey to the top was anything but easy. After navigating through tough group stages and high-pressure knockout matches, they faced Mpoma Secondary School in a tense semi-final encounter. The girls rose to the occasion, edging out Mpoma 2–1 in a closely contested battle that showcased their grit and composure under pressure.
The final match against Iganga SS was a testament to their tactical brilliance and seamless teamwork. Each point was fought for with unwavering focus, culminating in a clean 3–0 sweep that sealed their place in the history books.
Boys’ Team Also Impresses
Luzira’s Boys’ Woodball Team also had a commendable outing at the tournament. They made it to the quarterfinals, where they faced a spirited Mengo SS side. Despite a hard-fought effort, the boys bowed out with a narrow 1–2 loss, but their performance drew admiration from fans and coaches alike.
Individual Glory: Okello Jimmy and Etyang Kenneth Shine
Adding to Luzira’s pride, individual players from the boys’ team delivered stellar performances in the singles category. Okello Jimmy emerged as the Gold medalist, while Etyang Kenneth walked away with a Silver medal, showcasing the depth of talent that Luzira SS continues to nurture.

Speaking after the championship win, Mr. Peter Hormisdas Ssenyimba, the Head Teacher of Luzira Secondary School, praised the girls for their hard work, resilience, and character:
