NEC Football Club has today confirmed the mutual termination of their contract with Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu, marking the end of his tenure with the club effective immediately.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the club announced that both parties had reached a joint agreement to part ways amicably. According to NEC FC, the decision was made in the best interest of both the club and the coach, allowing Mbalangu the opportunity to freely pursue new challenges elsewhere.

“In a joint agreement, the club has unconditionally relieved and released Coach Mbalangu from all obligations associated with his role as Head Coach,” the statement read. “Both parties have confirmed that no further liabilities or obligations will exist between them, allowing Coach Mbalangu the freedom to join any club of his choice.”

The club went on to express its deep appreciation to the tactician for his service and dedication to the team during his time in charge.

“NEC FC extends our gratitude to Coach Mbalangu for his invaluable contributions to the team and wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” the club added.

Coach Mbalangu, who took charge of NEC FC with a reputation for disciplined tactical setups and a focus on developing young talent, has overseen a crucial phase in the club’s growth in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL). Under his stewardship, NEC FC displayed notable competitiveness against top-tier teams and secured key results that helped cement the club’s presence among Uganda’s elite sides.

Although recent performances have seen mixed results, the decision to part ways is understood to have been reached mutually and without contention. Club insiders indicate that NEC FC will now embark on a search for a new head coach to guide the team through the remainder of the 2024/25 SUPL season.

The club confirmed that a permanent appointment shall be announced soon, signaling a transition phase as the management looks to maintain stability and build on the foundations laid by Mbalangu.

As NEC FC prepares for upcoming fixtures, the focus now shifts to ensuring continuity, strengthening the squad’s performance, and aligning with the club’s long-term ambitions of becoming a consistent force in Ugandan football.
