NUP’s Nagayi Umu Salaama Dominates Opinion Poll with 95% Lead Over NRM’s Akankwasa Gift

The latest opinion poll conducted by Eco Media Uganda has revealed a landslide lead for Nagayi Umu Salaama, the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for the Woman Councillor LC3 seat in Civic Centre, Nakasero 4 Industrial Area, with an overwhelming 95% voter support.

The poll, carried out between October 14–15, 2025, targeted residents, business operators, and market vendors within the area to assess voter preferences ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

According to the survey, Akankwasa Gift of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) trails far behind with only 4%, while 1% of respondents remain undecided.

Analysts say the results highlight NUP’s growing grassroots strength and continued dominance in Kampala’s urban divisions. Nagayi’s commanding lead is attributed to her strong community engagement, advocacy for women and youth empowerment, and her focus on accountability in local service delivery.

Residents interviewed expressed appreciation for Nagayi’s accessibility and hands on approach, noting her efforts in addressing issues like sanitation, small business support, and better representation for women in leadership.

Meanwhile, Akankwasa Gift maintains optimism, banking on the NRM’s organizational structure and pledges to improve infrastructure and public services in the area. Her team says the final campaign stretch will focus on mobilization and re-engaging undecided voters.
