Three Killed in Shooting at Kiboga Prison as Security Agencies Hunt Suspect
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect, identified as No. 13544 Warder Anguyo Moses, allegedly opened fire on his supervisors, fatally shooting them before fleeing the scene.
A tragic shooting incident at Uganda Prisons Service facility in Kiboga District has left three people dead, prompting a joint security manhunt for the suspect who remains at large. In a press statement dated February 23, 2026, the Prisons Service confirmed that the fatal shooting occurred at Kiboga Prison at approximately 10:00am.
According to the statement issued by the Service Spokesperson, Frank Baine Mayanja, the deceased have been identified as:
Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, who was serving as Deputy Officer in Charge
Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, described as the third in command at the facility
Ms. Ayebare Sarah, spouse of the Officer in Charge
