Learners, teachers, and local leaders in Busia have welcomed a major boost to education following the donation and commissioning of new school buildings at Buwanda Primary School by the National Treasurer of the National Resistance Movement, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo.

The commissioning ceremony, held this morning, drew community members, district leaders, and education stakeholders who described the development as a timely intervention that will improve learning conditions and enhance academic performance. The newly constructed facilities are expected to reduce congestion in classrooms, create a safer learning environment, and motivate both pupils and staff.

Speaking during the event, local leaders praised Hon. Amb. Nekesa for her continued commitment to community transformation through practical investments in education infrastructure. They noted that improved facilities are essential in supporting government efforts to expand access to quality primary education, especially in growing communities.

Teachers at Buwanda Primary School said the new buildings will significantly ease pressure on existing classrooms, allowing for better organization of learners and more effective teaching. Parents also expressed gratitude, saying the development reflects leadership that responds directly to grassroots needs.

Hon. Amb. Nekesa’s support to education in Busia is part of a broader philanthropic effort. Earlier this month, she donated a coaster van to Buhobe Primary School to improve transportation and school operations — a gesture widely commended by residents.

Community members emphasized that such contributions go beyond infrastructure, inspiring confidence among learners and demonstrating the value of partnerships between leaders and citizens in advancing social development.

As Busia continues to grow, stakeholders say sustained collaboration and targeted investments in schools will remain critical in nurturing the next generation and strengthening the district’s human capital. Hon. Amb. Nekesa’s latest intervention, they added, stands as a strong example of leadership rooted in service and community empowerment.
