Hon. Biara Vows Fast-Track Development and Unity at Bulambuli Thanksgiving Ceremony
Hon.Biara made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, July 11, at Muyembe Boys Playground in Bulambuli District, where hundreds of residents, political leaders and dignitaries gathered to celebrate his election to the 12th Parliament.
BULAMBULI DISTRICT – Bulambuli County Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Biara Wepukhulu, has pledged to champion unity, accountability and rapid service delivery, assuring residents that the promises he made during his election campaign will begin to bear fruit within his first 100 days in Parliament.
Biara made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, July 11, at Muyembe Boys Playground in Bulambuli District, where hundreds of residents, political leaders and dignitaries gathered to celebrate his election to the 12th Parliament.
The event was presided over by the Minister of State for Gender, Labour, and Social Development (Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations), Hon. Simon Mulongo, and attracted several Members of Parliament from the Bugisu sub-region, district leaders, religious leaders and cultural representatives.
Addressing the gathering, Biara thanked the people of Bulambuli for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing them in Parliament and pledged to remain humble and committed to serving the district.
"I come here with a lot of humility. I am not a proud person, and I have not yet reached where I want to be. I am committed to doing whatever I can to improve the lives of the people of Bulambuli," Biara said.
He emphasized that his leadership would be guided by action and results, noting that residents would soon witness tangible progress and development initiatives.
"I promised that within the first 100 days you would begin to see the fruits of my work. I want people to see that development is taking place and that the promises I made are being fulfilled," he said.
The legislator further aligned his agenda with President Yoweri Museveni's call for accountability and hard work, citing the President's message during the national budget address.
"During the budget address, the President emphasized 'Kisanja No More Corruption' and 'Kisanja No Sleep.' That is the spirit that will guide me throughout the five years you have entrusted me with," Biara added.
Call for Unity Among Bugisu Leaders
The thanksgiving ceremony also turned into a platform for leaders from the Bugisu sub-region to reaffirm their commitment to unity and collective development.
Chairperson of the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus and Butiru County MP, Hon. Godfrey Wakooli Matembu, called upon leaders across the region to work together and set aside differences for the benefit of their people.
"We need to work together for the common good of our people. Unity among leaders is essential if we are to transform the region," Wakooli said.
He noted that cooperation among Members of Parliament would strengthen their lobbying capacity and accelerate the implementation of development projects across Bugisu.
Imbalu Launch Receives Support
Mbale Industrial City Division MP, Hon. Karim Masaba, used the occasion to rally support for the official launch of the 2026 Imbalu circumcision season scheduled for August 1 at the Mutoto Cultural Site in Mbale City.
Masaba urged residents to participate in the cultural event, describing it as a significant celebration of the Bamasaba heritage and identity.
"The Imbalu ceremony remains one of the strongest symbols of our cultural identity and unity as Bamasaba. I encourage everyone to attend and support this year's launch," he said.
MPs Pledge Support for Bulambuli Development
Bungokho North MP, Hon. Shafiga Wanyenya, congratulated the people of Bulambuli for electing Biara, describing him as a leader who values friendship, cooperation and development.
"You elected a good leader who will bring development back home. We came in large numbers because your MP believes in building friendships and lobbying for the benefit of his people," Wanyenya said.
Bungokho Central MP, Hon. Muhamood Masaba Mutenyo, revealed that members of the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus had agreed to work together and speak with one voice in advocating for the interests of the Bamasaba community.
"We agreed to move together, speak with one voice and work for the development of our region," Mutenyo said.
Iki-Iki County MP, Hon. Abdu Swahib Kampanya, urged residents to continue supporting their legislator, expressing confidence that cooperation among leaders would accelerate service delivery and development in Bulambuli District.
Mulongo Commends Biara's Leadership
Guest of honour and Minister of State for Gender ,Labour, and Social Development (Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations), Hon. Simon Mulongo, praised the people of Bulambuli for electing Biara and described the legislator as a committed and development-oriented leader.
"He is a good man who always looks for opportunities that benefit his people," Mulongo said.
Mulongo further revealed that leaders from the Bugisu sub-region had resolved to strengthen cooperation and support one another's initiatives under the guidance of the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus.
"As Members of Parliament, we have agreed to stand together and attend each other's functions under the guidance of our chairperson of the caucus, Mr. Wakooli Godfrey. Through this unity, we shall strengthen the Bugisu region and work together for the benefit of our people," he said.
The thanksgiving ceremony concluded with renewed calls for unity, accountability and collective action among leaders and residents, with many expressing optimism that Biara's tenure in Parliament will usher in a new chapter of development and improved service delivery for Bulambuli District.
