Kitara Football Club Knock Out Entebbe UPPC to Reach Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16

Kitara 2-0 Entebbe UPPC

Kitara Football Club booked their place in the round of 16 of the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup after a composed 2-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC at the Royal Park, Butema on Tuesday, 24th February 2026.

Goals from George Ssenkaaba and super substitute Alex Emmanuel Wasswa in either half ensured progression for the Royals, who are eyeing another deep run in a competition they famously won during the 2023–2024 campaign.

The round of 32 encounter began with Entebbe UPPC showing resilience and attacking intent despite facing top-flight opposition. The visitors defended gallantly and nearly stunned the home crowd with early chances. League top scorer Ambrose Kigozi came close to breaking the deadlock, while new signing Samuel Nsubuga also threatened, but neither could convert their opportunities.

Kitara gradually settled into the contest, asserting more control in midfield and stretching play through the flanks. Their persistence paid off in the 32nd minute when George Ssenkaaba found the breakthrough. The forward capitalized on a well-worked move to calmly slot home, handing the hosts a crucial advantage heading into halftime.

The start of the second half saw Kitara make decisive tactical adjustments. Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa were introduced for Gadafi Wahabu and Frank Tumwesigye respectively, injecting fresh energy into the side.

Wasswa’s influence proved decisive. With 10 minutes left on the clock, the substitute sealed the contest, finishing clinically to double Kitara’s lead and effectively put the tie beyond Entebbe UPPC’s reach.

Despite spirited efforts from the visitors to mount a late comeback, Kitara’s defense remained organized and disciplined, preserving the clean sheet until the final whistle.

The victory sends Kitara into the round of 16 of the prestigious Stanbic Uganda Cup, where they join other advancing sides including Kampala Capital City Authority FC. With a strong blend of experience and emerging talent, the Royals will be confident of replicating their past cup heroics.

The Uganda Cup remains a highly coveted competition, with the eventual winner earning the honor of representing Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Attention Shifts to League Clash

Interestingly, the two sides are set to meet again next Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, at the same venue in a Uganda Premier League fixture. Entebbe UPPC will be eager for redemption, while Kitara will look to complete a quick double over their opponents.

For now, however, it is Kitara who celebrate progression, demonstrating composure, squad depth, and clinical finishing when it mattered most under the floodlights in Butema.
