Uganda’s Employer of the Year Awards Marks 25 Years with Outstanding Winners Across Sectors

The Employer of the Year Awards (EYA) marked a landmark 25th anniversary on Thursday, with a grand dinner at Mestil Hotel, celebrating organizations that are setting the standard in workplace excellence, compliance, and job creation.

Organized by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE), this year’s awards ran under the theme “Investing in Uganda’s Future Employers: Fostering Job Creation.”

The 2025 edition also coincided with FUE’s 65th anniversary, reaffirming its role as the voice of employers and a driver of decent work, fair pay, and inclusivity.

Ms. Goldy Oboma, a consultant with FUE, applauded the awarigorou year journey since 2001, noting their rigorous scientific survey methodology, verified in partnership with Makerere University.

She emphasized that even non winners benefit from exposure to best practices that strengthen human resource strategies and improve business performance.

Presiding over the ceremony as chief guest, the Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon. Esther Davinia Anyakun, presented the prestigious Golden Awards, commending employers for their role in fostering decent work and sustainable growth.

This year’s ceremony recognized excellence across 16 categories, with winners drawn from diverse sectors like the Baylor Foundation Uganda – Best NGO Employer, Mountains of the Moon University – Service Sector Award & Overall Winner in Tourism and Hospitality

Harris International – Disability Inclusion Award, Uganda Breweries Ltd – Talent Management Award & Bronze Winner, MultiChoice Uganda – Sexual Reproductive Health and Gender Equity Award

Nyaiaka Hotel – Tourism and Hospitality Award, Crystal Green Services – Refugee Settlement Award, Marifa Medical Clinic – Refugee Employer Award

Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd – Elimination of Child Labour Award, Tooro Botanical Gardens – Agricultural Award, Golden Castle Hotel (Albertan Region) – Regional Tourism and Hospitality Recognition

Government agencies were also honored, with Uganda Printing Press Corporation taking home the ministry category award. In the corporate segment, Nile Breweries and MTN Uganda emerged as Golden Winners, receiving their accolades from Minister Anyakun.

The event featured inspiring testimonies from past participants, with organizers reiterating the link between sound human resource practices and business growth. Post-award seminars and feedback sessions will follow to encourage continuous learning and improvement.

As the Federation of Uganda Employers celebrates its 65th anniversary, the Employer of the Year Awards continue to inspire leadership to invest in people, foster job creation, and shape Uganda’s future workforce.
