Hon. Kaboyo’s Office Funds, Commissions New Classroom Facilities in Busoga Schools

NAMUTUMBA/KALIRO – September 24, 2026 — The Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, Rwenzori and Busoga Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Alice K. Kaboyo, has commissioned newly constructed and fully furnished classroom blocks funded by her office at two primary schools in Busoga Sub-region.

The facilities were commissioned at Nawansagwa Primary School in Namutumba District and Kiwa-Nabuzi Primary School in Kaliro District, where they are expected to provide additional learning space and improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers.

The construction and furnishing of the classroom blocks were funded through the Office of the Prime Minister under the affirmative action interventions targeting communities with historical development gaps.

The projects are part of Government efforts to address infrastructure challenges in communities that have experienced historical disruptions, including the effects of wars and other hardships.

Kaboyo Highlights Affirmative Action Programme

Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Minister Kaboyo said the interventions were designed to help communities that have historically lagged behind in development to catch up with other parts of the country.

She explained that the her office has a responsibility to implement affirmative action programmes targeting such communities, with a particular focus on improving access to essential public services.

Kaboyo said education infrastructure remains an important component of these interventions because improved learning facilities are critical to creating a conducive environment for children to acquire knowledge and skills.

She described the newly completed and furnished classroom blocks as an important investment in the education of children in the beneficiary communities.

Parents Urged to Support Government Efforts

The Minister also called upon parents and community members to complement Government investments by taking an active role in the education of their children.

Kaboyo noted that Government continues to meet several obligations in the education sector through the construction of classrooms, provision of scholastic materials, payment of teachers' salaries and release of capitation grants.

She, however, urged parents to ensure that children are enrolled in school, attend lessons consistently and remain in school until completion. She emphasized that improving education outcomes requires the combined efforts of Government, parents, teachers and the wider community.

Kaboyo Pledges Continued Support

Kaboyo further pledged continued Government support to communities through programmes aimed at improving household incomes and livelihoods.

She cited the Parish Development Model (PDM) as one of the Government programmes intended to support households to improve their economic wellbeing.

The Minister encouraged community members to take advantage of Government programmes and use the available opportunities to improve household livelihoods and contribute to the development of their communities.

Local Leaders Attend

The commissioning ceremonies were attended by local leaders and other stakeholders from the two districts, including Hon. Mutebi Mugoya Agoroben, the area Member of Parliament, district leaders, school management committees and members of the local communities.

The newly constructed and furnished classroom blocks are expected to ease pressure on existing facilities and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning at Nawansagwa and Kiwa-Nabuzi Primary Schools.

The projects reflect the office of the Minister of State for Luweero,  Rwenzori and Busoga Affairs' continued implementation of affirmative action interventions aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps and improving access to essential public services in historically disadvantaged communities.

For pupils and teachers at the two schools, the new facilities provide additional space for learning and are expected to improve the overall learning environment in the two Busoga communities.
