BUDUDA – In a move that underscores growing unity within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Bududa District, Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi has officially withdrawn his candidature as an independent and pledged full support to the NRM flag bearer for Manjiya County, Busiku.
The announcement was made during a planning meeting for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s forthcoming visit to Bududa District, scheduled for 8th November 2025. The meeting brought together key officials from the Bududa District NRM Secretariat and local party leadership to coordinate mobilization activities ahead of the presidential visit.
Speaking at the event, Koboyi emphasized that his decision was motivated by a commitment to party unity and the shared goal of consolidating NRM’s support base in Bududa.
“I have decided to withdraw my independent candidature and work with the NRM leadership to strengthen our party. This is a time for solidarity, not division,” Koboyi stated.
The Bududa NRM leadership warmly welcomed Koboyi’s decision, describing it as a demonstration of maturity and patriotism. Masaba Damascus, the Bududa NRM Administrator, commended Koboyi for prioritizing party cohesion over personal ambition, noting that such gestures strengthen the NRM’s organizational structure at the grassroots.
“When our members put the party first, we move forward stronger. We thank Koboyi for joining hands with the NRM team as we prepare for the President’s visit,” Masaba remarked.
Also present at the meeting were Busiku, the NRM flag bearer for Manjiya County, and Watalunga, the Bududa District Registrar of the NRM Electoral Commission. The officials expressed optimism that with renewed unity, Bududa will deliver overwhelming support for the party in upcoming engagements and future elections.
The team is currently finalizing logistical and mobilization plans for President Museveni’s visit, which is expected to focus on development initiatives, economic empowerment under the Parish Development Model (PDM), and infrastructure improvements in the Mount Elgon sub-region.
