EC Clarifies on Official Headquarters Location, Warns Public Against Visiting Wrong Address
Mr. Kamugisha Richard Baabo, Ag. Secretary Electoral Commission

KAMPALA — The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a public notice clarifying that its official head offices remain situated on Plot 1-3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala, and not at Lubowa, Wakiso District, as some members of the public have recently assumed.

In a statement released by Mr. Kamugisha Richard Baabo, the Acting Secretary to the Electoral Commission, the Commission noted that a number of stakeholders have mistakenly been visiting the Lubowa premises along Kigo-Lweza Road, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, seeking to access EC services.

“The Commission wishes to clarify that it has not relocated its Head Offices to the above address,” the statement reads. “Please note that the Lubowa location was solely used as the venue for the nomination of Presidential Candidates for the 2026 General Elections.”

According to Mr. Baabo, the Lubowa site has been earmarked for the construction of the Commission’s permanent headquarters, a project that is currently in its preliminary stages. He emphasized that all official correspondence, inquiries, and physical visits related to the Electoral Commission must continue to be directed to the Industrial Area offices in Kampala.

“All official correspondence, inquiries, and physical visits regarding the Commission’s services should be directed to Plot 1-3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala,” he stated.

The Acting Secretary further advised members of the public to be cautious of misinformation and avoid being misled by unauthorized persons or offices purporting to represent the Commission at unverified locations.

To ensure effective communication, the Electoral Commission has also shared its official communication channels, which include:

Telephone (General): +256-414-337500 / 337508–11

The Commission urged stakeholders, political actors, and the general public to always use these verified contacts when seeking information or services related to electoral matters.

Mr. Kamugisha’s clarification comes at a critical time as the country moves steadily toward the 2026 General Elections, with increased activity among political aspirants and citizens engaging with the Commission on various electoral processes.

The reminder is expected to help prevent confusion and ensure that all interactions with the EC are conducted through proper and official channels, maintaining transparency and trust in the ongoing electoral roadmap.
