Hon. Alice Kaboyo Applauds NEC for Constructing Modern Classroom Block in Nakaseke

Nakaseke District, Uganda — Hon. Alice Kaboyo, the Minister of State for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Affairs, has commissioned a modern three-classroom block at Ngoma Church of Uganda Primary School in Nakaseke District, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving education infrastructure and service delivery across the country.

The newly commissioned facility, constructed by NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd (NEC Works) — a subsidiary of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) — marks another milestone in the government’s effort to expand access to quality education and create a conducive learning environment for Ugandan children.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kaboyo expressed deep appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his continued commitment to infrastructure development projects nationwide, including in Nakaseke District, which played a historic role in Uganda’s liberation struggle.

“I thank the President for prioritizing education and ensuring that even rural areas like Nakaseke benefit from modern facilities. The children of Ngoma and surrounding communities now have an opportunity to study in a dignified environment that supports learning and inspires excellence,” she said.

Hon. Kaboyo also hailed the people of Nakaseke for their unwavering support during the National Resistance Army (NRA) liberation struggle, describing them as the bedrock of the revolution that restored peace, democracy, and socio-economic transformation in Uganda.

She urged residents to uphold that same spirit of patriotism by embracing government initiatives aimed at fighting poverty and boosting household incomes.

“Education remains one of the most powerful tools in the fight against poverty. When we educate our children, we are investing in the nation’s future and empowering communities to become self-reliant,” she emphasized.

The minister further commended NEC Works for its outstanding track record in delivering timely, affordable, and high-quality construction projects, noting that their professionalism demonstrates the government’s capacity to execute projects efficiently without external dependence.

“NEC has consistently exhibited patriotism, efficiency, and dedication to excellence. Their work is a clear reflection of the spirit of self-reliance that defines Uganda’s development journey,” she added.

Representing the Managing Director of NEC, Lt. Gen. James Mugira, Eng. Brian Buhanda thanked Hon. Kaboyo for gracing the occasion and acknowledged the government’s unwavering support toward NEC’s mission of implementing strategic infrastructure projects.

“We are proud to be part of the effort to transform Uganda through education, health, and industrial infrastructure. NEC remains committed to delivering value — building facilities that serve communities and stand the test of time,” Eng. Buhanda remarked.

He also appealed to school administrators, parents, and the community to take good care of the new building to ensure its sustainability for future generations.

The colorful commissioning ceremony was attended by local leaders, including the Area Member of Parliament for Nakaseke North, district officials, education stakeholders, and community members, all of whom lauded the initiative as a transformative step for the education sector in Nakaseke.

As the event concluded, the joy and optimism among parents, teachers, and pupils reflected the significance of the development — a new dawn for education in Ngoma Parish and a testament to the government’s continued investment in human capital development through infrastructure.
