Mao's DP Considers Referring BBS Tv to Uganda Media Council Over Misinformation
Democratic Party President and Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs - Nobert Mao

KAMPALA - The Democratic Party president and the Minister in the NRM government for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Nobert Mao, has expressed his injustice upon how the Bbs tv and Cbs report against the Democratic Party and him alone.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Kampala, president Mao said that however much Bbs may not like him, it should not publish false news about him in the public and therefore there is no need to target Democratic Party in order to divide it and spread rumours about it because journalists are supposed to be ethical by reporting what has been said.

According to Mao, '' Bbs should calculate well, because the best mathematics of human beings is to calculate well the future cost of the current decision.'' he said.

Bbs and Cbs have done enough and achieved their goals of damaging the Democratic Party and therefore they should spare it now as some of the decisions made by them today can be very costly in future, he emphasised.

Mao also commented on the issue of having a national conversation since Ugandans have now agreed that elections are not enough and there are certain things which must be above the elections, for example the debate which was started on the transition, whose transition will not come from elections but from a national conversation therefore all Ugandans should come up and support the idea of a national dialogue, he implored.

President Mao included that a national dialogue means that it is not only political leaders who should talk because majority of Ugandans are now sceptical about their leaders like Ministers, RDCs, MPs, LC5 and Mayors, so the dialogue should be broadened through a revived national dialogue because it was already started.

In addition, he explained that the critical role that can be played by the inter-religious council of Uganda is highly recognised because such religious leaders have a very big platform which can be used to plant a seed in the minds of Ugandans, seeds that can unite and heal the country.

The national dialogue is not only about political issues but also includes everything for example public morality, how to restructure the economy, the status of the family hence nothing is out of bounds even the president of Uganda before the general elections of 2021 had signed the proclamation in favour of the national dialogue, he added.

On the issue of salary inequities, the minister advised government to consider demand and supply while tackling the question of pay, for instance from the supply side, government or employers need to fuel more money in the pocket of their employees in order to meet the basic needs whereas from the demand side, government can look at provision of things such as health insurance system, free education, housing, water and electricity for public servants aimed reducing the weight of expenditures from their little salaries.
