The iron sheets, secured through the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda, were officially handed over at the Alebtong District Headquarters in the presence of the Chief Administrative Officer, Franko Olaboro, and the Resident District Commissioner, Geoffrey Okiswa.
ALEBTONG, UGANDA – The Government Chief Whip and NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Denis Hamson Obua, has delivered 630 iron sheets to Alebtong District under the Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme for the Financial Year 2025/2026, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional infrastructure and improving housing conditions for vulnerable communities.
The iron sheets, secured through the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda, were officially handed over at the Alebtong District Headquarters in the presence of the Chief Administrative Officer, Franko Olaboro, and the Resident District Commissioner, Geoffrey Okiswa.
The distribution prioritised education institutions and a faith-based organisation that play a key role in community development within the district.
Under the allocation, Alanyi Primary School received 100 iron sheets, Amugu Secondary School received 150, Omoro Senior Secondary School received 150, while Alebtong Yahew Pentecostal Church received 230 iron sheets.
The support is expected to improve infrastructure at the beneficiary institutions, particularly through roofing and construction works that will enhance the learning environment for pupils and students, while also strengthening community service facilities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, RDC Geoffrey Okiswa commended Obua for fulfilling his pledge to support development initiatives in the district.
Okiswa said the delivery of the iron sheets demonstrates effective coordination between national leadership and local government structures in implementing development programmes.
“This support shows that when leaders engage with government institutions and advocate for their communities, tangible results can be realised,” he noted, adding that the intervention will contribute to improving service delivery in the district.
Chief Administrative Officer Franko Olaboro also welcomed the support, noting that improved infrastructure in schools and community institutions plays a critical role in enhancing education outcomes and social development.
Hon. Obua reaffirmed his commitment to continue engaging government institutions to ensure that Northern Uganda benefits equitably from national development programmes.
He emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and targeted interventions aimed at strengthening critical sectors such as education and community institutions.
Obua noted that investments in social infrastructure remain essential for improving livelihoods and accelerating recovery in Northern Uganda, a region that continues to benefit from various government rehabilitation and development programmes.
The Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme has been instrumental in supporting post-conflict recovery through investments in infrastructure, social services, and community empowerment initiatives across districts in the sub-region.
Local leaders expressed optimism that the support will help address infrastructure challenges in the beneficiary institutions while strengthening community participation in development initiatives across Alebtong District.
