Maj. Martha Asiimwe Inspects Government Projects Including PDM in Abim District as she Condemns Corruption.
The Head of the RDC Secretariat/ACU, Office of the President, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, has convened a monitoring meeting with Abim District leaders to strengthen teamwork and ensure government projects make a real impact on the ground.
During the inspection, Maj Asiimwe emphasized the importance of collaboration among leaders to achieve quality service delivery, urging them to align their efforts with the government’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
She, however, highlighted key achievements in the district, attributing progress to H.E. the President’s leadership and the implementation of strategic programs while addressing the need to overcome challenges, including gaps in monitoring and accountability, to improve outcomes for citizens.
The RDC Secretariat’s role was underscored, focusing on service delivery monitoring, evaluating government programs, and tackling corruption through internal mechanisms, added Maj. Asiimwe. “Leaders should ensure transparency and there is also a toll-free line for reporting misconduct, enabling citizens to participate in the fight against corruption without fear.”
She further called on the team to prioritize initiatives that create jobs, enhance household incomes, and uplift vulnerable groups, reiterating H.E.’s directive for 2021-2026 as a term dedicated to socio-economic transformation.
In lengthy comments, Maj. Asiimwe mentioned on the corruption issues and expressed concern about how the corrupt isolate the noncorrupt officials in the region. But she advised that they would rather be isolated than going to jail, the President has strongly de-campaigned the misuse of government resources like PDM for personal gains, including favouritism and corruption. Specifically, funds are being allocated to benefit friends, relatives, and girlfriends, rather than for their intended purposes, she added.
The meeting concluded with a rallying call for unity: "Let us work together as one team with a shared goal of improving lives and ensuring that government projects deliver tangible benefits to the people of Abim District."
