Mandela Group (City Tyres) Supports Table Tennis Through Partnership with D-star Foundation.
KAMPALA - The Mandela group of companies has entered partnership with the D-star foundation towards sponsoring the forthcoming table tennis tournament slated for 7th Saturday and finals on 8th Sunday in Jinja City
Mr. Daniel Sekyanzi, the president of the D-star Foundation highlighted, Wednesday, the significance of the partnership with Mandela Group for the first time, at city tyres but explained that the tournament, referred to as the biggest edition, has a record of 400 entries and a first one in East and Central Africa.
At City tyres headquarters in kampala, he indicated that the tournament has steadily grown, year in, year out and participants this time shall include players from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, China, the US, and other countries, showcasing a diverse international presence.
The event aims to attract more sponsors to support the growth and development of the sport, with a focus on improving competition standards. With the East African Table Tennis excellence, Uganda is top ranking in the East African region and has the high level of preparation among players to defend their titles, added Sekyanzi.
The organization is committed to organizing a well-structured and distinct tournament, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants. The tournament's history is noted, with a record 400 entries, but the challenge posed by international competitors from China, India, Russia, and the US.
“We are back as a city tyres to sponsor again the 5th edition of the table tennis tournament in Jinjja, the company has been supporting other sports like football, netball, badminton and others in the country but this time round we have picked table tennis because it also comprises of many youths in the country,” the Public Relations Officer City Tyres, Mr. Herbert Bashaasha said.
This is part of the core objectives as City Tyres to give back to the community and supporting sports, “we not only focus on the business aspect but also the corporate social responsibility.”
Bashaasha, however, called upon other companies and individuals to support the game , noting that the benefits of the sport like the physical and mental stability, self confidence , concentration among others are of great importance to the youths.
