Retired Lt. Col. Ambako Kibrai Meets Iganga District Leaders on Purpose of Monitoring Govt Projects

Friday in Iganga, Lt. Col (Rtd) Ambako, implored the leaders during the meeting to focus on the important responsibilities so that common negative occurrences like the provision of air by contractors, shoddy construction, drug theft in hospitals, employee absenteeism, and the disappearance and diversion of funds from the Emyooga, PDM, USE and UPE, among others, will not take place.

He added that civic empowerment should be a key focus area, especially when people understand government programs, fewer challenges are faced. “Parish chiefs and senior administrative officers should be told to display information on resources and programs at parish and sub county headquarters to keep the public informed.”

He, however, described how the youth have their priorities, and how they use the money given to them for development purposes according to their priorities. This is the reason why today, recovery of youth Livelihood funds is not easy.

“I know, you know, it's generally not easy, but the truth remains that the money was given, the money was given to the youths, the women were given money also, and the women used the money very well. Men and women groups have appreciated men and women individually, have grown their business and are doing well, not only in Iganga but across the country, and that's a credit to the technical team, together with the political leadership.”

Because the political leadership has been supporting the technical leadership to make sure that this program succeeds, the projects are implemented and they are being implemented now in the road sector. I know how much effort you have put in place, he included.

Rtd Lt Col. Ambako , emphasized how he has an advantage in the region of Busoga through building relationships with the people and having a strong network that provides him with relevant information on ground. “ During interactions in the community, people raise a lot of issues that have been neglected in Busoga as a summary statement.” But on account the technical people have been able to operationalize all programsof the government.
