Plumbers Technicians Association Uganda,OM Plastech Company Calls For Govt Inclusivity in Countering Fake Products.
Plumbing Technicians Association of Ugandans (PTA) in partnership with OM plastech company have called upon the government through the ministry of gender labor and social development and the UNBS to create safe working environments for women plumbers, disabled people in the workforce as well banning fake products in the plumbing sector off markets.
The call to action was made on Sunday in Namanve Industrial park during the launch of an application for Ugandans to access plumbing services in the most simplified manner and also a Multi-Layer PPR pipe for plumbers.
The General Secretary of the association, Byansi George Godffrey discussed challenges faced by plumbers and said the multi-layer PPR pipe is highlighted as a new innovation with color-coded layers for easy identification, particularly beneficial for woman plumbers and people with disabilities, including the deaf, for easy recognition.
He added, the color codes on the pipe aid in quick identification of pipe types, enhancing usability for all users. For disabled individuals, the importance of the multi-layer PPR pipe for people with disabilities, especially the deaf is that the pipe’s color-coded design allows easy recognition by suppliers, facilitating communication for deaf plumbers. This state of the art innovation aims to improve accessibility and inclusion for disabled individuals in the plumbing industry.
Therefore, the launch event is presented as a significant step towards inclusivity and better service delivery. Another innovation is a plumbers app called "Find a Plumber," that is designed to help plumbers find jobs and be easily identified within the network, he indicated.
The app will distinguish legitimate plumbers from those masquerading as such by verifying their information, the verification process ensures that only genuine plumbers are listed on the app, enhancing credibility and reliability.
Byansi, said that the app ensures that only plumbers with validated information are listed, providing assurance to users. This verification step aims to combat fraud and ensure that only qualified plumbers are accessible through the app, because functionality is presented as a valuable tool for both plumbers and clients seeking reliable services.
Hitesh Gondaria and Mukesh Gondaria the managing directors of the OM Plastech Company mentioned that their pipes help plumbers to identify in futur cases or problems of malfunction, the pipe either takes hot or cold water. These pipes are made up in Uganda and 100% certified by UNBS, however , OM Plastech is the only company manufacturing the three layered type of product with a warranty of one year in all products given out.
They described that people in Uganda are still getting adapted to their products (pipes) since it is new on the market but with an international standard, they assured.
This initiative is not just about introducing a product, it is about setting a new standard in the plumbing industry within Uganda and beyond. "Our commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability drives us to provide solutions that meet the needs of our customers while contributing positively to our environment."
Furthermore, they indicated how excited they are to introduce the PPR pipes, available in distinct color codes like red and grey, green and grey. These color codes are not merely aesthetic, they serve an essential purpose in identifying the specific applications of each pipe type.
