The Union plans to open 16 regional offices and a total of 46 Union offices across the country. These offices will streamline operations and enhance coordination among boda boda riders.

In a historic move aimed at uniting and improving the welfare of boda boda riders across Uganda, the United Boda Boda Riders' Cooperative Union officially opened its National Headquarters in Kansanga, Kiwafu B, Seliso Road, today. This milestone event attracted key local leaders, boda boda representatives, and law enforcement officers, marking the beginning of an ambitious national project to enhance organization and service delivery within the boda boda sector.

Speaking during the inauguration, Gonzaga Yiga, the LC1 Chairperson of Kiwafu B, applauded the Union for selecting Kansanga as the location for its headquarters. He expressed optimism that the presence of the Union in the area would address the myriad challenges faced by boda boda riders, including security issues and operational inefficiencies.

"The establishment of this office is a great honor for our area. I am confident it will contribute to solving the riders' problems and foster harmony within the boda boda community," Yiga said.

The Union's organizational structure has been meticulously designed to ensure efficiency and representation at all levels. It comprises:

An Executive Committee with nine members, led by Chairperson Frank Mawejje.

Three Specialized Sectors overseeing borrowing, member verification, and overall Union operations.

Regional Representation with 10 representatives each from Greater Kampala, Greater Masaka, Northern, Eastern, and Western regions, forming a 50-member team.

District-Level Representation at all districts in the country, culminating in a general assembly.

Representation at Division, Sub-County, and Stage Levels to ensure inclusivity and grassroots engagement.

The next Union office is scheduled to open in Kanyanya (Greater Kampala), followed by offices in major towns, including Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja, Mbale, Arua, Gulu, and Lira. Once fully operational, the Union will employ over 400 staff members, contributing to job creation and economic empowerment.

ASP Twoyem David, the officer in charge of Kansanga Police, welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the presence of the Union headquarters in Kansanga would promote peace and order in the area. 

"The establishment of this office will not only address riders' challenges but also create a peaceful and secure environment for everyone in the community," ASP Twoyem noted.

The United Boda Boda Riders' Cooperative Union aims to bring together riders from all corners of the country under one umbrella, fostering unity and a collective voice. By streamlining services and providing a centralized structure, the Union seeks to empower riders economically, advocate for their rights, and improve their welfare.

The opening of the National Headquarters in Kansanga marks the beginning of a transformative journey for boda boda riders in Uganda. With a clear vision, structured leadership, and plans for nationwide representation, the Union is poised to become a unifying force in the boda boda sector. As it continues to expand, the Union promises to create opportunities, improve riders' livelihoods, and foster peace within communities across Uganda.

The next phase of office openings will be closely watched as the Union cements its presence and fulfills its mission of empowering boda boda riders nationwide.
