Kyadondo Secondary School Matuga Excels in UACE Results, Commends Government for New Curriculum.

Kyadondo Secondary School Matuga, Wakiso District, has commended the government for introducing the new curriculum, which they say will contribute to their exceptional performance in the upcoming release of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results.
Speaking to journalists after announcing the school’s results for old curriculum, Hajji Waligo Ismael, the school’s director, expressed appreciation for the new curriculum, noting that its emphasis on hands-on practical learning equips students with essential skills to tackle real-life challenges. The national results for the UACE old curriculum were officially released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Friday.
"The new curriculum is much better because it includes hands-on practicals, enabling students to acquire skills necessary for the job market and daily life. Although it was introduced midway during students’ academic journey, and both teachers and learners initially struggled to adapt, we still believe it is a better system," Hajji Waligo remarked.
Despite facing implementation challenges the new curriculum, Kyadondo Secondary School celebrated a remarkable performance for the 2024 UACE results, particularly in science subjects. Out of the 385 students who sat for the UACE examinations, several emerged among the top achievers in the country.
Among the best performers for the 2024 old curriculum were Layila Huzaifah (BCM/ICT) with 20 points, Kasuule Arafat (BCM/ICT) with 20 points, Mugoya Jamal (BCM/ICT) with 20 points, and Namubiru Zahara (History, Islam, Luganda/ICT) with 20 points. Several other students also excelled, further cementing the school’s reputation for academic excellence.
The school administration pledged to continue embracing the new curriculum’s approach to skill-based education while calling on the government to ensure that implementation challenges, such as teacher training and resource allocation, are addressed for smoother adoption in schools across the country.
With this impressive performance, Kyadondo Secondary School Matuga stands as a testament to the potential benefits of the new education curriculum in Uganda.
