The championship is scheduled to take place from December 6th–7th, 2025, at Kaboja International School, and will attract top table tennis talent from across Uganda and the region.
The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) has received a major boost ahead of the 2025 Uganda Open Table Tennis Championship, thanks to a UGX 10 million sponsorship from Lakhani Motors. The cheque handover took place in Kampala, signaling renewed corporate support for one of the country’s fast-growing indoor sports.
The championship is scheduled to take place from December 6th–7th, 2025, at Kaboja International School, and will attract top table tennis talent from across Uganda and the region.
UTTA President Mr. Cyrus Mark Muwanga, while receiving the cheque, lauded Lakhani Motors for its generosity and commitment to sports development in Uganda. He emphasized that such partnerships are vital in expanding opportunities for young athletes and elevating the visibility of the sport nationwide.
“When I took office, I purposed to bring as many sponsors on board as possible. Lakhani Motors is among the first of many partners who share our vision to elevate table tennis across the country,” said Mr. Muwanga.
According to UTTA, the UGX 10 million contribution will go toward key tournament needs such as branding, event logistics, and other organizational expenses to ensure a smooth and successful competition.
Representatives from Lakhani Motors reaffirmed their company’s commitment to supporting table tennis beyond this year’s Uganda Open. They highlighted the company’s long-standing tradition of investing in corporate social responsibility, particularly in sports and the health sector.
Having operated in Uganda for two decades, Lakhani Motors has built a reputation for reliability, quality, and trust — values that the company says align with its approach to community empowerment and sports sponsorship.
“We see sports as a bridge to community development and youth engagement. Partnering with UTTA reflects our desire to nurture young talent while promoting excellence and discipline through sport,” a Lakhani Motors representative stated.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in UTTA’s ongoing efforts to professionalize the sport and attract more corporate sponsors. With growing interest in table tennis across schools and institutions, UTTA aims to use such collaborations to enhance the game’s profile and create pathways for young players to compete regionally and internationally.
Mr. Muwanga expressed optimism that this partnership will inspire other corporate bodies to join in supporting Uganda’s sporting community.
“Together, we are driving the growth of table tennis across Uganda,” he concluded.
The Uganda Table Tennis Association continues to work towards its mission of developing and growing the sport across the country through training programs, competitions, and partnerships that empower athletes and strengthen institutional capacity.
