The announcement was delivered by former Kitara FC President, Mr. Dennis Musinguzi, who also serves on the club’s executive committee. Musinguzi revealed that the executive unanimously agreed on reinstating Kasozi as a substantive President to ensure smooth leadership and continuity.
“We felt it necessary to have a substantive leader steering the club, and after careful consultations, the executive agreed on Mr. Kasozi Deo,” said Musinguzi.
Kasozi’s Focus: Sustainability and Stability
In his maiden speech following the announcement, Mr. Kasozi emphasized that his new term would be anchored on sustainability and strengthening the club’s structures.https://youtu.be/V5mNzmbrAHw?si=86fN0m5dHzJZ6F3D
“My focus in this new term is majorly on the sustainability of the team. We have made tremendous strides in the past, but the challenge now is to ensure that these gains are consolidated for long-term growth,” he said.
Kasozi had previously stepped down in June 2025 after completing a three-year term that saw Kitara FC achieve several milestones, including securing lucrative sponsorships, winning the FUFA Big League, earning promotion to the Uganda Premier League, and lifting the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Interim Leadership Praised
Following Kasozi’s resignation, ASP Gilbert Nyaika, the club’s Vice President in charge of Administration, was appointed Interim President. Nyaika has been credited with holding the club together during a crucial transition period and guiding Kitara FC into the ongoing 2025/2026 season with renewed strength.
New Leadership Structure
With Kasozi’s reinstatement, Kitara FC unveiled a robust leadership team composed of senior administrators:
Hon. Brian Kaboyo – First Vice President
ASP Gilbert Nyaika – Vice President Administration
Bernard Kanyoro – Vice President Finance
Godfrey Bamwenda – Vice President Fans Mobilisation
Bernard Isoke – Vice President Technical
Dennis Musinguzi – Executive Committee Member
Eng. Jonard Asiimwe – Patron
The management structure is further supported by CEO Mr. Joshua Atugonza, who heads the Secretariat and sits on the Management Committee.
Various committees also work closely with management to execute the club’s vision and operations.
Sponsorship Boost
Kitara FC continues to attract strong corporate backing, with Kinyara Sugar Ltd injecting UGX 100 million this week as the club’s main shirt sponsor. Under Kasozi’s earlier leadership, the club had already secured partnerships with Jonard Conglomerate and Kinyara Sugar Ltd, contributing to its financial stability and professional outlook.
Building a Competitive Edge
The return of Kasozi is expected to further energize the club both on and off the pitch. Kitara FC has established itself among the most competitive sides in the Uganda Premier League, consistently challenging for top honors.https://youtu.be/DPK6AYuh2Rk?si=Gfs15S_0zlRqhAqn
On the Current League Format
Commenting on ongoing debates surrounding the Uganda Premier League format, Kasozi stressed the importance of dialogue between clubs and the federation.
“The clubs have a right to write to FUFA and FUFA have an obligation to respond to them, and it’s what we are seeing,” he remarked.
With a solid leadership team, growing sponsorship support, and a competitive squad, Kitara FC looks poised to strengthen its status as one of Uganda’s leading football clubs. Kasozi’s return is being seen as a boost that will not only stabilize the club’s management but also inspire its ambitions in both domestic and continental competitions.
