Hon. Fadil Twalla Pledges Fight Against Corruption and Improved Service Delivery as New PLU General Secretary
Speaking during his inauguration ceremony held at the Patriotic League of Uganda headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, Twalla outlined an ambitious agenda focused on strengthening patriotism through action and positioning PLU as a critical link between citizens and national leadership.
Kampala, Uganda – The newly appointed General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Rt. Hon. Fadil Twalla, has pledged to spearhead efforts aimed at combating corruption, promoting accountability, and ensuring effective service delivery across the country.
Speaking during his inauguration ceremony held at the Patriotic League of Uganda headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, Twalla outlined an ambitious agenda focused on strengthening patriotism through action and positioning PLU as a critical link between citizens and national leadership.
Twalla emphasized that corruption remains one of the biggest obstacles to Uganda's socio-economic transformation, noting that every shilling lost through graft directly deprives citizens of essential services.
"Lots of money stolen in government is a school not built, a hospital not equipped, a road not completed, and opportunities denied to our young people," he said.
The PLU General Secretary stressed that the organization will stand firmly on the principles of integrity and accountability, while supporting government efforts to eliminate corruption in public institutions, local governments, and agencies.
He called upon Ugandans to actively participate in the fight against corruption by speaking out against misuse of public resources and demanding accountability from leaders entrusted with managing public funds.
"PLU will stand firmly in terms of integrity and accountability. We shall support all efforts aimed at eliminating corruption in our government institutions, local government, and public agencies. We shall encourage citizens to speak out against corruption and demand value for money in every public project," Twalla stated.
According to Twalla, patriotism goes beyond expressions of love for one's country and should be reflected in concrete actions that safeguard national resources and promote development.
"Patriotism is not merely loving Uganda with words; it is protecting Uganda's resources with action," he noted.
Focus on Service Delivery
A significant part of Twalla's address centered on improving service delivery and ensuring that government programs translate into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens.
He argued that the success of any government should be measured by the quality of services delivered to the people rather than the policies and plans documented on paper.
Twalla announced that PLU leaders and members across the country will actively monitor government projects and programs to ensure that public resources achieve their intended objectives.
He highlighted key sectors including health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture, saying the organization will closely follow implementation processes to ensure that citizens receive the services they deserve.
"Government programs must be felt by ordinary citizens. The success of any government is measured not by policies on paper but by service delivery to the people," he said.
He added that PLU structures throughout Uganda will work to ensure health centers function effectively, schools adequately serve learners, roads are properly maintained, agricultural initiatives reach farmers, and public funds are utilized efficiently.
Bridging the Gap Between Government and Citizens
Twalla reaffirmed the Patriotic League of Uganda's mission of serving as a direct bridge between the people and national leadership.
He said the organization will continue creating platforms through which citizens can voice their concerns, aspirations, and challenges while ensuring that government receives feedback from communities across the country.
"The Patriotic League of Uganda's core mission is to act as a direct link and mediator between ordinary citizens and national leadership," he stated.
The new General Secretary pledged to strengthen grassroots engagement and mobilization efforts to ensure that Ugandans become active participants in national development and governance processes.
Political observers say Twalla's remarks signal a strong commitment by the Patriotic League of Uganda to champion transparency, accountability, and citizen-centered governance as the organization expands its activities nationwide.
His inauguration marks a new chapter for PLU as it seeks to enhance public participation in governance, promote patriotism, and contribute to Uganda's development agenda through civic engagement and oversight of public service delivery.
