NRM Treasurer Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Urges Busia Leaders to Strengthen Grassroots Mobilization Ahead of Presidential Visit
Speaking during a strategic mobilization and planning meeting with local leaders ahead of the NRM Presidential Candidate’s campaign visit to Busia slated for November 15, 2025, Hon. Nekesa likened the government’s approach to nurturing national development to that of caring for a newborn baby — requiring patience, consistent attention, and collective effort.
Busia, Uganda | November 3, 2025 — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, has called on NRM Local Council 1 (LC1) flag bearers in Busia District to remain steadfast in recognizing and supporting the government’s continued efforts toward improving the welfare of all Ugandans.
“Development is like nurturing a newborn; it takes time, commitment, and careful attention. The NRM government has never abandoned its citizens but has continuously worked to uplift every Ugandan through inclusive programs and policies,” Hon. Nekesa emphasized.
The meeting, attended by district leaders, NRM sub-county chairpersons, youth representatives, and women mobilizers, aimed at strengthening grassroots structures to ensure effective organization and message coordination ahead of the presidential campaign visit.
Hon. Nekesa commended the leaders for their continued trust in the party and urged them to articulate clearly the achievements of the NRM government during the campaigns, including infrastructure development, education, health services, and wealth creation programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
She noted that Busia, being a border district with strategic economic potential, stands to benefit significantly from NRM’s continued focus on trade facilitation, infrastructure expansion, and job creation.
“Our people in Busia are witnessing transformation — from improved roads and schools to market access and youth empowerment programs. This is proof that the NRM delivers on its promises,” she said.
Hon. Nekesa also encouraged leaders to maintain unity and discipline within the party structures, emphasizing that internal cohesion remains vital in ensuring the success of the NRM’s political agenda.
The upcoming campaign visit by the NRM Presidential Candidate is expected to draw large crowds from across Busia and neighboring districts, as the region prepares to reaffirm its support for the party ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Local leaders present at the meeting applauded Hon. Nekesa’s message, pledging to intensify door-to-door mobilization and community engagements to strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots.
The session concluded with renewed enthusiasm among NRM supporters, with a shared commitment to ensuring a warm reception and successful campaign visit for the party’s presidential candidate later this week.
