President Museveni Urges Wise Voting, Highlights NRM Achievements at Kiboga Rally
Addressing a large crowd at the rally, President Museveni said elections should never be treated as a game, stressing that leadership is built on trust, experience, and proven capability. He reminded residents that the consequences of poor leadership choices are often borne by ordinary citizens.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday held a high-energy campaign rally in Kiboga District, where he delivered a strong message on leadership, national history, and the responsibility Ugandans bear when choosing their leaders.
Addressing a large crowd at the rally, President Museveni said elections should never be treated as a game, stressing that leadership is built on trust, experience, and proven capability. He reminded residents that the consequences of poor leadership choices are often borne by ordinary citizens.
The President reflected on Uganda’s turbulent political past, noting that from Independence in 1962 through the years of conflict in 1966, 1971, 1979, 1981, and 1986, the country paid a heavy price for wrong decisions and unstable leadership. He said those painful lessons should guide Ugandans as they approach the 2026 general elections.
“Decision-making must never be taken lightly. When a country makes wrong choices, it is the people who suffer,” President Museveni told the gathering.
Speaking directly to the children of former fighters and residents of Kiboga, the President said the long period of peace Uganda has enjoyed under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) should not be taken for granted. He described peace and stability as the foundation upon which development, education, health services, and wealth creation are built.
During the rally, President Museveni formally presented the NRM Manifesto for the 2026–2031 period, expressing confidence in the party’s record and future plans. He said the manifesto is anchored in the NRM’s history of delivery and practical problem-solving, rather than empty promises.
“The NRM is capable. We are not jokers. What we promise, we deliver, and what we reject, we firmly reject,” he said.
The President reiterated that the NRM’s agenda for the next five years will continue to focus on maintaining peace and security, accelerating wealth creation at household level, improving infrastructure, supporting agriculture and industrialisation, and empowering young people through skills development and enterprise.
He urged the people of Kiboga to safeguard their future by supporting leaders with a proven track record and a clear vision for the country, cautioning against experimentation with leadership that lacks experience or commitment to national stability.
Local leaders and party supporters welcomed the President, praising the NRM government for sustained peace, improved road networks, and expanded access to social services in the district. They pledged continued support for President Museveni and the NRM in the 2026 elections.
The Kiboga rally is part of President Museveni’s ongoing nationwide campaign engagements, where he is mobilising support for the NRM, engaging citizens on Uganda’s political journey, and outlining his vision for the country in the 2026–2031 term.
