Kansai Plascon Commits UGX 100 Million to Advance Uganda Aquatics and National Championships

Kansai Plascon Uganda has announced a one-year sponsorship partnership with Uganda Aquatics , committing UGX 100 million to support the federation’s major national events during the 2026 season.

The partnership was unveiled at the Uganda Aquatics offices at Plot 17 Cooper Road, Kisementi, and is expected to strengthen the federation’s efforts to professionalise event delivery, expand participation, and improve athlete development pathways across swimming and other aquatic disciplines.

Partnership to support four major national events

Under the agreement, Kansai Plascon will support a calendar of key competitions designed to grow competitive swimming and broaden aquatic participation in Uganda.

2026 National Events that will be sponsored:

Broader vision for aquatics development

The sponsorship comes as Uganda Aquatics rolls out a more structured competition framework aimed at improving standards, increasing participation, and creating clearer pathways for swimmers progressing from club and league competitions to national, regional, and international representation.

The federation says the expanded calendar reflects a broader strategy to:

Strengthen competitive swimming in Uganda.

Expand aquatic disciplines beyond pool events.

Increase participation among clubs, schools, and independent swimmers.

Create more structured athlete development pathways.

National championships to aid team selection Selection pathway for national teams.

The 11th National Swimming Championships, scheduled for July 2–5 at Kampala Parents School, will be conducted under World Aquatics technical rules.

The event will also serve as part of the selection process for Uganda’s national teams competing in regional and international competitions during the 2026–2027 cycle.

Kansai Plascon: Investing in structures and talent

“At Kansai Plascon, we believe sport needs consistent investment, visibility, and the right structures for talent to grow.” — Mr. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director, Kansai Plascon Uganda .

He noted that Uganda Aquatics is entering an important phase characterised by stronger competition standards, new events, and wider participation across the sport.

“We are proud to support this journey and to contribute to platforms that will help swimmers, coaches, clubs, and the federation build a stronger future for aquatics in Uganda,” he added.

Uganda Aquatics welcomes timely support

“This partnership comes at an important moment for Uganda Aquatics.”

— Mr. Moses B. Mwase, President, Uganda Aquatics

Mr. Mwase said the federation’s priority this season is to raise the quality of competition, improve event delivery, and create stronger pathways for athletes across swimming and other aquatic disciplines.

“Kansai Plascon’s support will help us deliver our key national events more professionally and give our swimmers better opportunities to compete, develop, and represent Uganda with pride,” he said.

A boost for Uganda’s aquatic future

With the 2026 competition season now underway, the partnership is expected to provide both financial support and increased visibility for Uganda’s aquatic sports ecosystem.

For Uganda Aquatics, the sponsorship represents more than event funding; it is a strategic investment in building a stronger national swimming structure capable of identifying talent, improving competition standards, and preparing athletes for success on regional and international stages.

As the federation introduces new championships such as open water swimming and masters competition, officials believe the expanded calendar will help attract more participants, deepen the talent pool, and position Uganda for sustained growth in aquatic sports over the coming years.
