Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi Akiiki Affirms Commitment to the Club Amidst Speculation on His Future

Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi Akiiki has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, dismissing speculation that he might leave after his first term ends in July 2025. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Akiiki sarcastically remarked that as the "head of procurement" in a major government entity, he intends to procure more trophies for Kitara FC to cement their place among Uganda’s elite football clubs.

Kitara FC, under Akiiki’s leadership, won the Stanbic Uganda Cup last season, and the club president aims to make winning silverware a culture at the club. "At least every season, I want to make it a culture of winning silverware," he emphasized.

Second Term Possibility & Assuring Fans

Addressing concerns about his future, Akiiki clarified that Kitara FC’s constitution allows him to seek a second term. He reassured fans that he would evaluate the club’s progress before making a final decision but promised to always remain part of the team setup, urging supporters not to worry about the club’s leadership stability.

His remarks come ahead of Kitara FC’s crucial fixture against UPDF FC on Matchday 16 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2025, at Bombo Military Barracks Ground.

UPDF FC vs Kitara FC: Second Round Begins in Bombo

Kitara FC will be looking to continue their impressive form and start the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on a high note with a win against UPDF FC away in Bombo.

In the reverse fixture held at Royals Park Stadium, Butema, Hoima, Kitara FC registered a dominant 4-0 victory, ending their five-match winless streak. Goals from Fred Amaku, George Senkaaba, and a brace from Kabon Living sealed the win for the Royals.

Coach Bbosa Focused on a Strong Second Round

Kitara FC’s head coach, Wasswa Bbosa, acknowledged the significance of this round, emphasizing that every team has its own goals to achieve.

"This is the final and most important round of the league, and we are aware that each team has a target to accomplish. While ours is to finish among the top four, our opponents will not make it easy for us, but we are determined for the challenge," Bbosa stated.

Bbosa highlighted UPDF FC’s resilience and noted that his team had used the break effectively to work on key areas, including mentality and tactical improvements.

"They started well, and they are one of the stubborn sides in the league, which means we have to be better than we did in the first round. Good enough, we have utilized this break so well, worked on our mentality, among other gray areas, and we hope to have good results," he added.

A win for Kitara FC will see them move to 24 points, overtaking BUL FC in sixth place on the league standings.
