Kampala Queens FC were crowned champions of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup after a commanding 2-0 victory over Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in the final played at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

The triumph secured Kampala Queens' first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup title, marking a historic milestone for the club and further cementing their status among the leading forces in women's football in Uganda.

The highly anticipated final attracted several football dignitaries, including FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo Hassim, FUFA Second Vice President Dr. Azah Taibu, FUFA Executive Committee Member Deo Mutabazi, and Kitara FC Chairman Deo Kasozi, who witnessed an entertaining contest between two of the country's top women's football clubs.

Tight First Half

Both teams entered the final determined to lift the coveted trophy and delivered a competitive opening half characterized by disciplined defending, tactical battles in midfield, and limited clear-cut scoring opportunities.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, known for their resilience and attacking flair, matched Kampala Queens stride for stride during the early exchanges. However, it was Kampala Queens who eventually found the breakthrough.

In the 38th minute, forward Joanitah Ainembabazi capitalized on an opportunity to put her side ahead, sending Kampala Queens supporters into celebration. The goal provided the breakthrough that the match desperately needed and gave Kampala Queens a crucial 1-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Kawempe Fight Back

After the restart, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC emerged with renewed determination and dominated several phases of the second half as they searched for an equaliser.

The former champions created numerous scoring opportunities and pushed Kampala Queens deep into their own half. However, despite their attacking pressure, they struggled to find the finishing touch.

Several efforts narrowly missed the target, while Kampala Queens remained organized defensively, frustrating their opponents and preserving their slender lead.

Naigaga Seals Historic 

With Kawempe committing numbers forward in search of a late equaliser, Kampala Queens found space on the counterattack.

In the first minute of added time, Kamiyat Naigaga produced a moment of brilliance, embarking on a solo run before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper to double Kampala Queens' advantage. 

The goal effectively ended Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC's hopes of a comeback and confirmed a memorable 2-0 victory for Kampala Queens.

Moments later, the final whistle sparked jubilant celebrations among players, technical staff, and supporters as Kampala Queens lifted the FUFA Women’s Cup trophy for the first time in the club's history.

Individual Excellence Recognised

The final also served as an occasion to celebrate outstanding performers who distinguished themselves throughout the competition.

Kampala Queens goalkeeper Sharon Norah Kaidu was named the tournament's Best Goalkeeper after an impressive campaign that culminated in a clean sheet in the final.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC defender Samalie Nakacwa earned the Best Defender accolade in recognition of her consistent performances and leadership at the back throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Kampala Queens midfielder Shamusa Najjuma was named Best Midfielder, highlighting her influential role in driving her team's successful cup run.
