Museveni Champions Peace and Resettlement Agenda as He Campaigns in Bulambuli District
The President, who arrived to a warm reception from residents, emphasized the enduring peace and stability Uganda now enjoys, noting that Bulambuli and the entire Bugisu region stand as clear witnesses to the transformation brought about by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. “The people of Bulambuli are the best witnesses of peace in Uganda.
Bulambuli, Uganda | Thursday, November 6, 2025 — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni continued his campaign trail in the Bugisu Subregion with a major stop in Bulambuli District, where he addressed thousands of supporters and NRM leaders on the government’s achievements and future plans under the 2026–2031 Manifesto.
Bugisu once had a serious problem of cattle rustling, like Teso and Karamoja, but all that is now history under the NRM. Because of peace, we can now focus on protecting lives and developing our country,” President Museveni said.
Focus on Resettlement and Disaster Preparedness
In his address, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resettling families living in disaster-prone mountainous areas of Bulambuli and neighboring districts. He revealed that a comprehensive plan is already in motion to ensure the safety and welfare of residents living on dangerous slopes prone to landslides.
“One area of focus is resettling families from dangerous mountainous areas. The policy of getting people out of danger was adopted long ago. That’s why we bought 2,000 acres of land. The families waiting to be resettled will each receive two acres and 10 million shillings. We also have 50 billion to buy more land. The plan is clear — to get out of danger before time,” he explained.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance disaster preparedness and sustainable human settlement, especially in areas frequently affected by natural disasters in Eastern Uganda.
Development Rooted in Peace
President Museveni also outlined how peace has paved the way for meaningful development in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture. He cited improved road networks, electricity extension programs, and access to social services as evidence of the NRM’s impact in Bulambuli.
He reiterated that the NRM government’s philosophy of Peace, Development, and Wealth Creation remains the foundation of Uganda’s progress, urging citizens to continue supporting the party that has ensured stability and economic transformation.
Campaign Trail Continues in Bugisu
The President’s visit to Bulambuli marks Day 2 of his campaign tour in the Bugisu Subregion. He began his trail in Sironko and Manafwa earlier in the week, where he presented the NRM Manifesto for 2026–2031, focusing on consolidating past achievements and accelerating socio-economic transformation.
According to the campaign schedule, President Museveni will take a rest day on Friday, November 7, 2025, before resuming his campaign activities on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with rallies planned in Bududa and Namisindwa districts for the day three engagement with the people of Bugisu.
As the campaign trail continues, the President is expected to reinforce the NRM’s message of peace, prosperity, and inclusive development, rallying citizens to support the Movement’s vision for a modern, secure, and self-sustaining Uganda.
