President Museveni Commissions New NRM Office in Mayuge, Hon. Aggrey Bagiire Lauded for Land Donation
The commissioning ceremony formed part of President Museveni’s campaign programme in the Busoga sub-region, where he has repeatedly emphasized the importance of well-organized local party structures to enhance mobilisation, service delivery, and political cohesion.
Mayuge, Uganda — November 19, 2025:
NRM Presidential candidate H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday officially commissioned the newly constructed National Resistance Movement (NRM) office in Mayuge District, marking a significant milestone in the party’s grassroots strengthening efforts ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The commissioning ceremony formed part of President Museveni’s campaign programme in the Busoga sub-region, where he has repeatedly emphasized the importance of well-organized local party structures to enhance mobilisation, service delivery, and political cohesion.
A Gift of Land for the Party
During the event, the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, expressed profound gratitude to the district leadership and, most notably, to Bunya West Member of Parliament Hon. Aggrey Henry Bagiire. Hon. Bagiire donated the titled land on which the new party office now stands — a 100 by 75 plot strategically positioned to serve the entire district.
Todwong applauded Hon. Bagiire for his generosity and commitment to advancing the party’s institutional growth. He described the contribution as “a patriotic gesture that strengthens the NRM family and ensures the party remains rooted among the people.”
“This office stands here today because of a selfless decision by Hon. Bagiire. He chose to invest in the long-term presence and functionality of the NRM in Mayuge. We are deeply grateful,” Todwong said.
Museveni: Local Structures Are the Backbone of the Movement
President Museveni commended the initiative and said that the establishment of permanent district offices is key to ensuring continuity, coordinated mobilisation, and improved interaction with citizens. He stressed that for the NRM to effectively champion socio-economic transformation, its leaders must be present, organized, and accessible at the grassroots.
“Having a functional district office means our people know where to go for guidance, mobilisation, and coordination. It is part of the infrastructure that sustains a mass party like the NRM,” the President noted.
He called on district leaders to make full use of the facility by ensuring proper documentation, regular meetings, and organised activities that strengthen the Movement’s visibility and service presence.
A Boost to Mayuge’s Political Organisation
Local leaders described the newly commissioned building as a landmark achievement for Mayuge’s political landscape. For years, the district has operated without a permanent and well-equipped party office, relying instead on temporary rented spaces that often disrupted administrative continuity.
The new office is expected to serve as a coordination point for campaigns, mobilisation activities, youth programmes, women’s league engagements, and documentation of district-level party activities.
Hon. Bagiire, in his remarks, said the donation was driven by his desire to support the long-term growth and institutional stability of the party that he has served for many years. He encouraged other leaders and supporters across the country to embrace similar initiatives that strengthen party infrastructure.
“This land belongs to the Movement and will always serve the people of Mayuge. It is my contribution to the legacy of building strong institutions that outlive us,” he said.
The commissioning ceremony attracted district leaders, party mobilisers, NRM supporters, and residents of Mayuge, many of whom welcomed the office as a sign of renewed political energy and improved service coordination.
NRM officials revealed they have a goal of turning it into a vibrant administrative hub for all party activities in the region.
President Museveni’s commissioning of the new NRM office in Mayuge underscores the party’s renewed focus on strengthening local structures as the 2026 elections draw closer. With the generous land donation from Hon. Aggrey Bagiire and the visible support of district leadership, the office stands as a testament to the party’s enduring presence and organisational evolution in Busoga and beyond.
