KAMPALA - The Uganda People's Defense Forces has declined granting the body of soldier who committed suicide after shooting his boss, Col. Engola, official burial services.

The UPDF spokesperson , Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye revealed this on Friday, as he indicated that the UPDF law prohibits them to bury somebody that has committed suicide and more so committed murder.

The Brig Gen, also added that UPDF will not give an official burial service to the late, private Wilson Sabiiti who shot and killed the minister of state for Gender, labor and Social Development, it is against the UPDF laws, he stressed.

According to Kulayigye, "the army has confirmed that they will only deliver the body of Wilson Sabiiti to his ancestral home, and nothing beyond that shall be provided because the late committed two crime of murder and sucide.

Private Wilson Sabiiti is the soldier who was the Minister's body guard that all of a sudden shot dead the retired Colonel Charles Okello Engola, at his home before shooting himself as well in the same day in the capital of Kampala.

It is reported that Sabiiti was struggling financially on top of feeding a wider family while paying tuition fees for both his four offsprings and two children of an uncle.

" After the father's death in 2016, private Sabiiti had taken on the responsibility of winning bread for the whole family."
