Maj. Martha Asiimwe Urges Rubanda Leaders to Safeguard Government Gains and Promote Accountability

The Head of the RDC Secretariat and Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) in the Office of the President, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, has called on Rubanda leaders and citizens to protect Uganda’s development achievements by ensuring transparency and quality service delivery.

Speaking during the official launch of government programs under the theme “Protecting the Gains for Quality Service Delivery,” Maj. Asiimwe said the mobilization drive aims to bring citizens closer to government efforts in socio-economic transformation.

She commended Rubanda for supporting President Museveni in the 2021 elections and highlighted major progress achieved through initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), and Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program (UWEP).

The district has received more than UGX 17 billion across these programs, reaching thousands of beneficiaries.

Maj. Asiimwe cautioned against corruption and misuse of funds, noting that public servants and local leaders must act as “the first line of defence” in protecting government resources. She emphasized that effective supervision, transparency, and civic participation are key to achieving lasting progress.

Highlighting Uganda’s broader achievements, she said the country’s economy has grown from USD 3.8 billion in 1986 to USD 61.3 billion, supported by peace, stability, and strong infrastructure now over 6,800 km of tarmac roads, up from 1,900 km in 1986.

She praised Rubanda’s tourism potential, citing Lake Bunyonyi, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and Echuya Forest, and urged more investment in roads leading to these attractions to boost visitor numbers and local incomes.

Maj. Asiimwe also rallied leaders to promote civic education, national ID registration, and universal education, stressing that government programs are “a right, not a favor.”

In her closing remarks, she reaffirmed commitment to President Museveni’s four pillars Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-Economic Transformation, and Democracy and encouraged leaders to focus on peace, wealth creation, and accountability.

“The NRM is the medicine that cured Uganda’s past challenges. Our duty now is to protect these gains and serve above self,” she concluded.
