NRM 1st Vice Chairman Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo Flags Off Second Round of Party Membership Register Digitisation
The launch marks the continuation of a nationwide effort following last month’s successful update and registration of party members across all 72,000 villages in Uganda. To facilitate this next phase, 16 data centres have been established across the country, where digitisation teams will input and verify membership details.
Kampala, Uganda – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has embarked on the second phase of digitising its party membership register, a crucial step in enhancing transparency and accountability within the party.
The flag-off event, presided over by the NRM 1st National Vice Chairman, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, took place today at the party headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.
The launch marks the continuation of a nationwide effort following last month’s successful update and registration of party members across all 72,000 villages in Uganda.
To facilitate this next phase, 16 data centres have been established across the country, where digitisation teams will input and verify membership details.
The event was attended by key members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), including Gidudu Mafabi (Elders' League), Lydia Wanyoto (Women's League)
, James Tweheyo (Workers’ League), Gabriel Kato (PWDs), and Gaddafi Nassuru (Youth League), among others. Their presence underscored the importance of the exercise in strengthening party structures and ensuring an up-to-date and credible register.
In his remarks, Vice Chairman Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo urged the responsible teams to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the exercise. He emphasized the need for a clean and transparent process that reflects the true membership of the party.
“The party will bank on your work to ensure a credible and transparent process. I caution you against any form of malpractice, especially soliciting money from politicians to make irregular entries. Stick to your mandated roles and avoid interfering in matters beyond your responsibilities,” Kigongo stated.
The digitisation of the NRM membership register is expected to provide a reliable database that will aid in future party activities, including internal elections, mobilisation efforts, and policy implementation. By leveraging technology, the party aims to eliminate errors, reduce manipulation, and enhance efficiency in managing its extensive membership base.
As the exercise kicks off in the designated data centres, party officials and stakeholders have been called upon to closely monitor the process to ensure its success. The NRM leadership remains committed to building a robust political institution grounded in principles of accountability and inclusivity.
With this initiative, the party is setting a precedent in embracing modern digital solutions to streamline its operations. The outcome of this exercise will play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s activities as Uganda heads towards future political engagements.
