NRM National Treasurer Barbara Nekesa Oundo Rallies Youth and PWDs in Busia to Boost Support Ahead of 2026 Elections
Hon. Amb. Nekesa emphasized the NRM’s commitment to inclusive political participation, noting that young people and PWDs form a critical pillar in shaping the country’s political and socio-economic direction.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, has continued her nationwide mobilization efforts with a strategic engagement involving the National Youth Council (NYC) and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Busia District. The meeting sought to strengthen grassroots structures and consolidate support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM flagbearers ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Hon. Amb. Nekesa emphasized the NRM’s commitment to inclusive political participation, noting that young people and PWDs form a critical pillar in shaping the country’s political and socio-economic direction. She commended the leadership of both groups in Busia for their continued loyalty to the party and urged them to translate this commitment into aggressive mobilization on the ground.
She highlighted that the party's success in 2026 will largely depend on strengthened structures, coordinated messaging, and the active involvement of demographic groups that significantly influence voter turnout.
“The youth and PWDs hold a strategic position in our communities. Your voices inspire confidence and your energy drives change. We count on you to champion the NRM message of peace, stability, and transformative development,” she said.
During the engagement, the NRM National Treasurer outlined several achievements of the ruling party, including infrastructure development, youth empowerment initiatives, and social protection programs designed to uplift vulnerable communities. She reminded attendees that sustaining these gains requires continuity of leadership and unity of purpose, which the NRM continues to champion.
Youth representatives and PWD leaders in Busia welcomed Hon. Nekesa’s message, affirming their readiness to mobilize, sensitize, and rally community members around the party’s vision. They also expressed gratitude for her direct engagement, noting that such interactions strengthen their confidence and motivation to participate actively in the electoral processes.
Participants used the platform to raise issues affecting their constituencies, including unemployment among youth, accessibility challenges for PWDs, and the need for more community empowerment programs. Hon. Nekesa assured them that the concerns would be forwarded to the relevant party and government structures for action, reaffirming the NRM’s principle of leaving no one behind.
The mobilization marks one of several consultative meetings expected to intensify as the country approaches the 2026 elections. With the involvement of key stakeholder groups such as the NYC and PWD structures, the NRM is eyeing a consolidated and energized base anchored on grassroots engagement and inclusive participation.
Hon. Nekesa’s outreach in Busia reinforces the party’s commitment to maintaining a people-centered approach as it prepares for 2026 — ensuring that every voice, particularly those of young people and persons with disabilities, contributes to shaping the nation’s future.
